™SERMON NOTES ™ Sunday, February 10, 2008 “COST OF DISCIPLESHIP” (Mark 8:27-38) To be a disciple is to carry the name of Christ. When we carry with us the name of Christ, it should make a difference in how we walk through life. “What is the most important commandment? Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37, NIV).

Sunday, February 10, 2008 “COST OF DISCIPLESHIP” (Mark 8:27-38)

“What is the most important commandment? Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37, NIV). 1. THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP - UNDERSTANDING (v. 3132). 2. THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP - DISCIPLINE (v. 33). “Who do you say I am?” Peter said, “You are the Christ” (Mark 8:29, NIV). “Get behind me, Satan!...You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men” (Mark 8:33, NIV). “The Lord disciplines those he loves…Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:6, 10-11, NIV). 3. THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP - SACRIFICE (v. 34). 4. THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP - COMMITMENT (v. 35).
