Craft Coordinator Casual Part-Time, Non-Exempt February 2012 General Qualifications A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. Fully in accord with Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Of strong moral character and integrity. Special Qualifications • Familiarity and expertise with multiple art and craft disciplines is essential. • Prior experience in camp programming and utilizing activities such as crafts to accomplish program objectives desired. (Classroom experience with art students working toward measurable learning objectives is applicable.) • Must have AA or higher degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. • Must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. • Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred. • Ability and attitude that will provide guest satisfaction. • Experience and desire to work within a positive team setting with diverse people. • Comfortable with team oriented approach to working interdepartmentally. • Ability to motivate, train and supervise others is required. • Must be flexible, tactful, positive and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Able to use a computer to make reservations, process payments, e-mail, etc. • Able to calculate, monitor and record daily attendance, income and cash balances. • Absolute attention to detail and safety. • Interest in Redwood Ecosystem and stewardship issues. Broad Responsibilities • Oversee the summer crafts program at the Conference Center for family camp guests. • Develop and promote the mission, vision and values of Mount Hermon through the crafts program. • Work with peers and other departments to synchronize themes and schedules. • Deliver excellent customer service to all guests by acting with a “guest comes first” attitude and by connecting with the guests. Discover and respond to guest needs. • Anticipate guest needs by constantly evaluating environment for guest cues. • Create a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to guests and staff. • Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the craft program operating to standards and set a positive example for the clients and staff. • Develop positive relationships with staff by understanding and addressing individual motivations, needs and concerns. • Follow all operational policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all guests and staff. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment. • Maintain regular and consistent attendance with punctuality.

Specific Responsibilities • Develop themes, choose craft projects, and order supplies. • Assist in the hiring and training of crafts summer staff and rotators. • Establish learning objectives and measurable outcomes for the craft program for all ages of campers. • Assess and document progress toward learning objectives and satisfaction of customer experience on an ongoing basis. • Serve as the point of contact for guests in the craft room. • Answer guest inquiries tactfully and creatively, offer suggestions for working them into our program. • Act as liaison between Mount Hermon Program staff and the Adventure Recreation department to expand the craft program in general. • Answer phone, email, and in-person requests regarding crafts. • Receive and process payments in all forms. • Deposit weekly cash, credit and check deposits. • Process credit card payments in a timely and organized manner. • Schedule staff to meet demand. Adjust as needed to handle last minute changes. • Enforce and ensure staff are appropriately dressed and prepared. • Keep adequate supplies, brochures and other materials. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Relationships The Craft Coordinator reports to the Recreation Coordinator and/or the Director of Mount Hermon Adventures. This individual will closely interact with guests, other departments and summer staff to achieve consistently excellent programs and enforce Mount Hermon policies and safety standards. Supervision Requires only modest supervision; exercises substantial independent judgment and initiative. The Craft Coordinator will supervise summer staff assigned to the craft program.
