Dangerous Prayers Show Me Your Glory August 7, 2016 Text: Isaiah 6:1-4 (p. 571) King Uzziah, for 52 years, had led Judah ______________. Except for a prideful event at the end of his life, Uzziah had been really good for Judah. And Isaiah knew it! Now the king was dead. You can imagine the questions regarding the future, the concerns, the anxieties, the _______________. How should we _____________ “in the year King Uzziah died?” Far too often I find myself praying _______ __________. But there are things we see in Isaiah 6 that are dangerous to our comfort zones, dangerous to living a small, safe life that is normal in the Western world, dangerous enough to keep us from a ___________ _____________. We don’t find God unless we seek Him (Jer. 29:11-13). If I may, He ___________ Himself, only found by those who find Him of such worth as to seek Him with all their heart, those who will move beyond safe prayers. I contend Isaiah was praying a prayer of ________ – praying it with passion and diligence despite its danger.

________ ______ _______ _________! Moses prayed this most incredible, dangerous prayer. But when we understand the context, it is almost _______________ to think he prayed it. (Ex. 32:1; 33:1-15) Moses turned down God’s offer – the offer of power to be _____________ ______________. He said, “I’d rather stay here in the desert with You than have the power to be successful. More than we need a land, more than we need a powerful resource, we need __________!” Somewhere in his journey of faith something had shifted in Moses. Moses had gained an ____________________ of something I still in so many ways need to grasp. We need God Himself more than we need His _____________. In that year Moses didn’t pray ________ ________. He prayed a radical, life-altering, dangerous prayer that we must pray if we want the abundant life God promised. What if that became our prayer, especially in the seasons of difficulty, in the seasons of struggle, in the seasons of ___________________? It’s a prayer not for those who just want to survive and make it, not for those content to __________. It’s not for the faint of heart. But if we long for the _____________ ________ promised by Jesus, it’s a prayer we must with integrity pray regularly.
