STATUS: Full-time, Salaried (salary based on connection, status, and experience) HOURS: 40 Hours per week (Typically Sunday through Thursday) BENEFITS: In accordance with WNC Conference guidelines General Purpose of Position: To serve as leader of all aspects of Congregational Care for Davidson United Methodist Church. This will be accomplished by direct hands on leadership and recruiting and enabling lay members. Organizational Relationship and Supervision: The Minister of Congregational Care reports to the Senior Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Senior Pastor, in cooperation with the Staff Parish Relations Committee, provides an annual evaluation of the Minister’s performance. The Primary Task: Provide leadership and oversight over all aspects of Congregational Care at Davidson UMC, including but not limited to the following: Cancer care, Caregiver support, Grief care, Respite care, Care cards, Prayer shawl ministry, Senior Adult ministry, Service for Hope and Healing, Women to Women mentoring, Divorce care, Davidson career transition and Marriage enrichment programs. Responsibilities: Periodically provide leadership (e.g. presiding, preaching, etc.) for various worship services and other services such as funerals, weddings, or other Davidson UMC events Track pastoral care for all including seniors, homebound congregants, and hospitalized members. Provide updates for other clergy and staff Develop system to track congregants in need which can be used by clergy and staff for initial contact as well as follow-ups. Coordinate visitation schedule with other clergy and staff Receive prayer concerns from worship services and appropriately distribute them to clergy/staff and/or prayer band Collaborate with and supervise the Community Faith Nurse to fully use his/her skills and talents. This can include but is not limited to hospital visits, home visits after hospitalization, home visits of those with special health needs (new diagnosis of cancer, chronic illness), health fairs for the congregation, and organizing Care teams to help with special needs situations (Rides to MD or church, meals)

Direct and oversee Senior Adult ministries to include: -Organize and train volunteer visitation team for older adults -Aim to visit each older adult homebound church members twice a year -Coordinate with Stephen Ministers to deliver Holy Communion to our senior adults -Organize events at the Pines (Coffees, Outreach singers, Clergy visits) -Prime Timers Recruit and train lay volunteers to staff programs and lead groups Plan the Budget for Congregational Care Serve as a contact and resource person for groups that meet at DUMC such as AA or other community support groups Qualifications and Aptitudes:  Must embrace United Methodist doctrine and theology.  Master of Divinity or Christian Education preferred  An Elder in Full Connection with the WNCC shall be the ideal candidate. Consideration will be given for any of the following categories of connection: Elder or Deacon in Full Connection (FE, FD) , Provisional Elder or Provisional Deacon (PE, PD), Full or Provisional Member of another Annual Conference (OA, OD, OE), or Licensed Local Pastor (FL)  Three to five years of relevant experience is preferred, to include proficiency in sermon development and delivery  Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement a Congregational Care ministry within the parameters of the United Methodist Church. (i.e. must have proven project management skills and be able to manage a program ministry budget)  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills  Must posses a proven ability to work effectively with staff, diverse individuals, individuals of all ages, and teams of volunteers  Must possess capability to use church membership management software to do reporting, extract data and enter updates  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
