Dear Friends and Family

Christmas 2013

Greetings in Him Whose Love compels us to seek Him and His Kingdom First! “Pr aise

We rejoice at this beautiful season of remembering Jesus, Who left His heavenly throne for the greatest rescue mission, at the greatest cost, to give us the greatest gift-- eternal life! Our hearts are filled with thankfulness at our Heavenly Father’s faithfulness as we look back at this past year, with several highlights and milestones in our lives and Sam’s. Sam graduated in May from Moody Bible Institute. It was also in God’s plan that he would meet Tiffany, his future wife at Moody, with whom he graduated, and to whom he also got engaged in May. Their wedding is planned for May 2014. God is putting Sam through a deep maturing process as he serves the youth in discipling them and uniting the different youth groups in his region in Germany, using what he has learned to teach and challenge the youth to reach their generation for Jesus. Henk and I have reached a milestone in our ministry and marriage; we rejoice greatly as we celebrated our th 25 Wedding Anniversary this past November. Our gift to each other was to travel to the USA to visit precious friends of ours in Iowa. The last time we were there was 25 years ago during our honeymoon/furlough. A few days later we drove to Wisconsin to meet Sam and Tiffany. Sam had flown in from Germany to go over wedding plans and celebrate Thanksgiving with Tiffany and her family. It was a very special time in deepening our ties with Tiffany and her family, as well as seeing our Sam.

Our flight to the USA was memorable as our small plane flew into a storm moving towards Ottawa, causing terrific turbulence. In all our travels we've never experienced anything like it. Adam, our brave flight attendant, tried to keep us calm, but had to sit down and belt up. Later as he served us water we offered him a New Testament which he gratefully accepted. When we arrived at Chicago we had a 2 ½ hour wait for our next flight and Adam also had a flight to wait for. We seized the opportunity this divine appointment, to tell him how through Jesus we have a life-vest: His salvation, and the free gift of eternal life. Just before he left for his flight Irene was able to pray with him and in her prayer she weaved in the message of the Gospel. We have many stories to share in our upcoming newsletter about our outreaches in the Malls and the Friends For Dinner outreach to Foreign students. Just one from FFD is: Kelly, our Jewish student, with whom we have been in contact through this past year. He has been attending some of the Bible studies once a month with Ariel Ministries, as well as Henk’s Friday evening Shabbat teachings on the Tabernacle. After one of our evenings recently he commented: “I like being with people who have something to say; people who share and care for each other. That is something I don’t experience at the University.” Please pray with us that as Kelly hears the Word of God, faith will rise in his heart and he will turn to Yeshua, His Messiah, and the veil will be removed. We are encouraged at the students who have become friends, and we continue to welcome them into our home to the end that they may hear of so great a salvation. We look forwards eagerly to our Lord’s return but in the meantime let's live simply, care deeply, give generously, love extravagantly, share the Good News of Jesus, and leave the rest to the Lord.

Merry Christmas and May God’s grace and peace be yours abundantly in 2014.

Henk and Irene P,S. We are so grateful for your partnering with us in this work prayerfully, it is an investment in lives we share together.
