From the Pastor My Dear Parishioners, The Season of Advent begins this weekend, the fourth Sunday before Christmas. This is the beginning of the Liturgical Year (B) when we start again to look at our Salvation History. It is a time set aside by the Church to reflect upon the Incarnation of Our Lord, the first coming of Jesus Christ through Grace, and to consider the second coming of Christ as Just Judge of the living and the dead at the resurrection of the dead. During this time there is the temptation of getting lost in all the secular preparations for Christmas and missing out on that much needed preparation time. The gospel warns us to be prepared, to not let this time pass us by, to attend to that emptiness inside that only Jesus can fill. Let us be strong in our resolve to prepare well during this Advent! In Christ’s Peace, Fr. Guadagnoli Pastor December 8th is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Patroness of the United States of America. This is a Holy Day of Obligation and we are required as Catholics who actively live our faith to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for this day. The Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first moment of her conception, by a singular privilege of Almighty God, and in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, our Savior and hers, was preserved from all stain of original sin. Pope Pius IX defined this age-old belief of the Church in 1854 as an article of revealed truth. Our Lady was in need of redemption and she was indeed redeemed by the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. The manner of Mary’s redemption, however, was unique. Instead of being freed from original sin after having contracted it, she was preserved from contracting it. This was a most fitting favor for the Mother of the Redeemer. As Patroness of the United States, Our Lady continues to pray for all her daughters and sons of this great country. May we rely on her prayers.
Holy Day of Obligation The Immaculate Conception will be celebrated on Friday, December 8th and it is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7th at 5:30 pm and on Friday, December 8th at 6:45 am, 8 am (All School Mass), 5:30 pm and 7 pm (Spanish).

This year, Christmas falls on a Monday. Christmas is a Holy Day of Obligation and it is a distinct obligation from that of the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Two obligations means two Masses are required to fulfill them. Therefore, both a Sunday and a Christmas Mass are required to fulfill obligations this year. Posada y Pastorela Mantengamos vivas las hermosas tradiciones de las posadas. Estas celebraciones hacen alusión al peregrinaje de San José y la Virgen María en busca de una posada donde descansar. Las posadas duran nueve días; inician el 16 de diciembre y terminal el 24 del mismo mes en vísperas de la Navidad. Este año la comunidad de Santa Mónica les habré la puerta a nuestra tradicional posada, con una pastorela que se llevará a cabo el 17 de Diciembre a las 3:15pm. en la Cafetería de la Escuela. Les invitamos a traer un platillo de comida o postre de la temporada para compartir. Si tienen niños puede vestirlos con trajes de pastorcitos. El Ministerio Pro-Vida de Santa Monica, los invita a participar en la Epifania de Regalos para Bebés, para beneficiar a los centros de embarazos, con muy necesitados artículos para bebés. Mis queridos feligreses, La temporada de Adviento inicia este fin de semana, el cuarto Domingo antes de Navidad. Este es el inicio de Año Litúrgico (B) cuando iniciamos a mirar nuestra historia de Salvación. Es un tiempo que ha puesto la Iglesia para reflexionar sobre la Encarnación de Nuestro Señor, la primera Prepare el corazón y el hogar para recibir a Jesús venida de Jesús Cristo a través de la Gracia, y para considerar la segunda LES INVITAMOS A UN venida de Cristo como el Justo Juez de los vivos y los muertos el día de RETIRO FAMILIAR DE ADVIENTO la Resurrección de la muerte. Durante este tiempo hay una tentación de Parroquia Santa Mónica perderse en todas las preparaciones seculares de la Navidad y olvidar 9933 Midway Road ~ Dallas, Texas 75220 la preparación verdaderamente necesaria. El Evangelio nos recomienda Sábado 9 de diciembre, 2017 estar preparados, que no dejemos pasar este tiempo, que atendamos lo 8:00 a.m. a 2:00 p.m. que esta vacío dentro de nosotros que solo Jesús puede llenar. Seamos Empezamos con la misa a las 8 a.m. fuertes en prepararnos bien durante este Adviento! En la paz de Cristo, P. La Santísima Virgen María, desde el primer momento Orando con su cónyuge de su concepción, por privilegio singular del Altísimo, y en vista de los Reuniendo a su Familia a través de la oración: méritos de Cristo Jesús, nuestro Salvador y el de ella, fue preservada de Dificultades y Puntos Prácticos ~ Con alabanzas, dinámicas y manualidades toda mancha del pecado original. El Papa Pio IX definió esta creencia de adviento para toda la familia milenaria de la Iglesia en 1854 como un artículo de la verdad revelada. Nuestra Señora necesitaba ser redimida y ciertamente fue redimida por Presentado por la Hna. María Johanna de las Hermanas Dominicas la Preciosa Sangre de Jesucristo. La forma que María fue redimida, fue de Sta. Cecilia única. En vez que fuera liberada del pecado original después de haberlo de Nashville, TN recibido, ella fue preservada de tenerlo. Esto fue un favor muy apropiado Basado en el libro para la madre del Redentor. Como Patrona de los Estados Unidos, Nuestra Señora continua orando por todas sus hijas e hijos de esta gran nación. Este año, la Navidad cae en lunes, la Navidad es un día Santo de Obligación y es diferente a la obligación del Cuarto Domingo de Adviento. Dos obligaciones quieren decir cumplir con dos Misas.
