Week 10: Deuteronomy 14-34 :: March 10-11 “Outliving Yourself” (Moses and Joshua) As we wrap up Social Notworking and the first five books of the Bible, we have written questions that will look back and give us an overview of what we’ve learned. 1. As we leave the section called “The Law,” what did you learn about God’s attitude toward sin, repentance, and obedience? 2. Genesis is the book of beginnings. We learned about the beginnings of creation, man, sin, a nation of people and a God who desires relationship with his people. Share the “beginnings” of your relationship with God — what significant things happened in your first two years with Him? Did you grow quickly, did you stumble through it, how did you meet the Lord? 3. Exodus is the story of a journey. We read about God saving and delivering His people from slavery and leading them through many difficult adventures. What adventures have you faced, and what have you learned about God through your own journey? 4. Leviticus was about God’s holiness and expectations that He has for His people. It taught us about obedience, holiness and grace. What kinds of things are easy for you to obey, and what kinds of things are more difficult? 5. Numbers is about wandering, consequences, and God’s discipline. How does God bring discipline in your life — what does it look like? How do you respond to His discipline — do you welcome it or do you reject it? What have you learned from the times God has disciplined you? 6. Deuteronomy is about transition. It’s about Moses’s retelling of the law and God’s provision for His people. It’s about transitioning to new leadership and a new season in Israel’s journey. What transitions have you faced in the past, and what transitions are you facing right now? Are you living your life with the end in mind? 7. If you knew that you only had a couple days to live, what kinds of things would you want to tell your family and friends? What would you want them to be sure to remember? 8. Read Deuteronomy 3:23-26. Why was Moses not allowed to enter the Promised Land? Then read Deuteronomy 34:10-12 and Hebrews 3:1-6. Even though he was not perfect, why was God so pleased with Moses?
