Devils make Cup finals By The Associated Press

NEWARK, N.J. — Moments after sending the New Jersey Devils to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since SPORTS 2003, Adam NOTEBOOK Henrique skated to the corner and waited to be mobbed by his teammates. It’s become a common occurrence for the 22-year-old who spent last season in the minor leagues. He notched the series winner in double overtime against Florida in Game 7 in the opening round, and did it again on Friday night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, sending the rival New York Rangers packing for the season along the way. Henrique scored off a wild scramble in front at 1:03 into overtime and the Devils eliminated the Rangers 3-2 to advance to the Cup finals against the Los Angeles Kings. “I mean, this kid’s just at the right place, right time, all the time,” Devils coach Peter DeBoer said. “The two biggest goals of the playoffs come off his stick.” Ryan Carter and Kovalchuk also scored for the Devils. Ruslan Fedotenko and Ryan Callahan tallied for top-seeded New York. NBA fines Spoelstra MIAMI — The NBA fined Miami coach Erik Spoelstra $25,000 on Friday for “critical public comments” about officiating in the Eastern Conference series with Indiana. Spoelstra made the comments before Miami’s shootaround Thursday in Indianapolis, hours before the Heat beat the Pacers in Game 6 to win the series. Spoelstra was quoted by several media outlets saying the NBA “does not have a problem” with Indiana committing hard fouls on Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Spoelstra told reporters he counted more than 12 instances where Heat players were struck in the face by the Pacers this season. Miami had two players suspended for Game 6 for flagrant fouls. Indiana’s Tyler Hansbrough was not suspended for a flagrant he committed against Wade, opening a cut over the Miami guard’s right eye. ‘I’ll Have Another’ sees Belmont NEW YORK — Triple Crown hopeful I’ll Have Another took another tour around Belmont Park on a rainy Friday, this time galloping a mile under exercise rider Humberto Gomez. After two days of 11⁄2-mile jogs, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner picked up the pace as he prepares for the Belmont Stakes on June 9, when he will attempt to become thoroughbred racing’s first Triple Crown champion in 34 years. I’ll Have Another was accompanied by his stable pony, Lava Man, as he entered the track with steady rain falling. His ears were pricked forward as the chestnut colt galloped through the stretch before being pulled up on the turn. “He was a little hard to pull up,” Gomez said. “He felt really good. We’re happy because he came out of the last race very good. He handled the track very, very well.”
