2 semesters (8 months) or 3 semesters (12 months) Mt Gravatt & Gold Coast February and June Like many fields, design changes faster and more frequently than a celebrity’s wardrobe, especially when the computer is your basic tool. At QIBT and Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art (QCA), you will be immersed in the core fundamentals of design – colour theory, typography and drawing. You will work on creative problem solving techniques, learn to think spatially and visually, work in teams and individually, develop skills in time management, communication, resourcefulness, creativity, visual appreciation and exploration. Design is a rewarding experience for those with a flair for visual design and leads to many employment opportunities in the media, publishing and design/development fields.

Some exams will be held in the evenings and on Saturdays. A limited number of classes will be offered after hours. Some students may need to consider classes between 5.30pm and 9.30pm as part of their timetable, if daytime classes are full. Students interested in taking classes after 5.00pm should consult a QIBT Academic Advisor .

Progression: International students are required to obtain a GPA of at least 4.0 in the Diploma. Australian citizens and Permanent Residents: Upon successful completion of a QIBT Diploma and achievement of GPA ≥3.75, students will be guaranteed entry to the related Griffith program providing their rank is greater than or equal to the current QTAC cut-off for that program. *In order to receive the full 80 credit points of advanced standing, students are advised to choose a specialisation or an elective major in Visual Communication Design in the degree. Students are advised that course length (i.e. the final two years of the Bachelor) may be extended, due to subject offerings and sequencing at Griffith. #
Students must submit a portfolio.
Please note: 80 credit points is equivalent to one year of full-time study.
