About the role La Trobe University Sydney campus is looking for suitably qualified sessional Diploma of Business/Diploma of IT teaching staff to teach in the following areas:  IT  Economics  Accounting  Finance  Business Management  Marketing Essential Skills & Experience  Tertiary qualifications and a teaching qualification/or minimum 2 years teaching experience.  Demonstrated ability and experience in delivery of classes [lectures/tutorials] within a tertiary level education environment.  Demonstrated experience in, or potential for, contributing to the development of scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. About the company Navitas has an established relationship with La Trobe University through the operation of the La Trobe Melbourne pathway College (LTM), offering Foundation and Diploma programs on the La Trobe University Bundoora Campus in Melbourne. Navitas also operates the La Trobe University Sydney Campus on behalf of La Trobe University, offering Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in addition to Foundation and Diploma programs. The Sydney campus has recently rebranded and relocated to new premises under a renewed ten year agreement between Navitas and La Trobe University. 1.

Overview and Objectives of the Position:

The teacher is responsible for the delivery of Diploma Programs at La Trobe University Sydney Campus. This includes lecturing, providing academic support to students and supervision and marking of assignments and exams. 2.

Key Result Areas:

Teaching and learning i.

High quality delivery of program materials resulting in strong academic outcomes and student satisfaction, including preparation of classes and associated materials.

ii.

Intensive support for students to ensure strong academic outcomes and student satisfaction, directing students to the Academic Skills Advisor as required.

iii.

Maintaining up to date and in-depth knowledge of the discipline being taught through publications, professional associations and professional development activities.

iv.

Marking of attendance, assignments and exams.

v.

Complete other tasks relating to the teaching function as required, including attendance at meetings and professional development activities

Academic Governance and Quality i.

Support academic governance processes to maintain academic quality.

ii.

Participate in academic quality enhancement initiatives as required

Qualifications and Selection Criteria:

Essential: i.

A tertiary qualification in education in the relevant field.

ii.

Experience teaching in a tertiary environment/or higher education setting (minimum 2 years).

iii.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

iv.

Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for a multicultural environment: The ability to work in and be sensitive to a multicultural learning environment.

v.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and initiate change.

vi.

Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities and meeting deadlines.

vii.

A current and valid Working with Children Check Card, which the appointee must maintain throughout their employment in this position.

5.

Desirable: i.

Demonstrable knowledge of quality principles and methodology incorporating continuous improvement initiatives.

ii.

Experience working in a multicultural education environment.
