Educated to at least Honours degree level or equivalent, preferably with a Masters degree in a relevant subject A professional qualification in marketing (eg CIM) Significant experience at both strategic and tactical levels of managing marketing activities at a senior level, preferably within a similar specialist environment. Substantial consumer and digital marketing experience with a proven leadership track record, preferably within the UK higher education sector. Experience in leading marketing teams in complex and competitive markets. Strategic business planning and critical thinking skills in developing solutions to complex business problems and opportunities. Experience in developing and executing integrated marketing plans based on comprehensive understanding of new business and retention drivers and customer and market insights. Leadership skills which encourage positive communication and trust and capacity to act as positive agent for change and innovation in the team. Highly developed relationship management and negotiation skills together with excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level presentation skills required to represent the business internally and externally. Overview and Objectives of the Position:

SAE Institute UK is seeking an exceptional individual to lead and drive the marketing, brand and communications activities of the UK Region. The role is responsible for providing both strategic and operational marketing leadership, building a strong brand position and the planning and directing of integrated marketing programs to achieve business objectives. The role is also responsible for building capabilities in segmentation, retention and data driven marketing. The incumbent will be part of the Institute’s Senior Management Group and will work closely with Campus Managers and other Senior Managers, and liaise with SAE Marketing Directors based in Europe, Australia and the USA, Navitas Group Marketing and Navitas Group PR. The role will lead an manage a small marketing and promotions team across the UK Region business and assist the MD UK in high-level marketing related tasks across the UK Region, which in addition to four campuses in the UK includes international campuses in Stockholm, Amman, Bangkok and Belgrade.

Key Result Areas:

Working closely with the Managing Director and the UK management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and operational marketing and communications plans that build the brand, positioning and the reputation of SAE Institute in the UK and its regions. Main duties and accountabilities Marketing Strategy the postholder will: i.

Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of an integrated marketing strategy for the full range of the Institute’s activities which will promote the strategic vision and objectives of SAE Institute UK;

ii.

Lead on the development, implementation and evaluation of an effective integrated branding strategy to promote SAE Institute, the products and services in the most effective manner to key target audiences:

iii.

Lead on reputation-building and brand awareness-raising campaigns for the Institute;

iv.

Utilise the web and develop digital marketing resources as key strategic components of the Institute’s marketing strategy;

v.

Develop an Institute -wide market orientated culture to support the implementation of marketing best practice;

vi.

Develop effective internal communication processes to ensure coherent activity and marketing awareness across the Institute;

vii.

Undertake competitor, market and customer analysis advising on implications for strategy;

viii.

Commission research and analysis to inform strategy;

ix.

Ensure that the Institute is well informed on market trends and developments, carrying out analysis and preparing reports using market and competitor data, survey results and enquiry and admissions data in order to provide relevant and actionable management information that can be used to inform portfolio development, pricing, marketing and student recruitment strategies;

x.

Contribute strategic and tactical advice, reports to the Managing Director UK and supporting the UK management team on the performance of the Institute’s marketing strategy and activity;

xi.

Liaise and negotiate effectively at the highest level with external specialist agencies and providers, in the areas of communications, branding, digital/web marketing, press and public relations and advertising;

xii.

Liaise with colleagues across SAE and Navitas to ensure that the marketing and communication strategies are complementary and supportive of corporate strategies.

Brand Development and Positioning the postholder will: i.

Interpret (external agency) market and brand analysis data to support the positioning strategy for the Institute in the UK across both creative and education sectors;

ii.

Develop and build brand value among target customers and stakeholders; using brand tracking metrics including awareness and advocacy;

iii.

Identify barriers to brand success and implement strategies to overcome these to ensure that the Institute in the UK develops and maintains a strong market position;

iv.

Design, develop and implement all brand campaigns to ensure that the key messages are communicated in a clear and distinctive manner;

v.

Ensure branding consistency throughout premises, internal and external signage, collateral and communications.

Marketing Communications the postholder will: i.

Devise, evaluate and oversee the implementation of effective tailored marketing communications and campaigns for key stakeholders, using the most appropriate marketing communications methods to promote maximum awareness (nationally and internationally) to meet SAE Institute UK objectives;

ii.

Develop a competitive profile for the Institute and its key markets and devise a strategy to ensure consistent and effective communications to enable it to establish a strong position amongst its competitor set;

iii.

Ensure effective engagement with key stakeholders and audiences by developing a compelling image for the SAE Institute UK;

iv.

Devise, implement and evaluate effective and coherent PR strategy to support the Institute’s objectives;

v.

Develop digital marketing resources (eg podcasts, vodcasts, SMS, social networking, etc);

vi.

Develop estate-based marketing, capitalising on physical resources, hosting events.

Ability to foster a results driven and continuous improvement culture through the design and implementation of systems that measure and analyse new business and retention rates, cross sell and up sell, campaign effectiveness, channel performance, service levels and customer satisfaction.

ii.

Ability to design, recommend, implement and manage customer value propositions to achieve sales objectives.

iii.

Ability to design, recommend and implement the end to end sales and services processes to meet customer expectations and business objectives.

iv.

Ability to manage and design internal and external research requirements for the acquisition and retention of customers. Build customer segmentation models and interpret customer analysis to identify business opportunities. Integrate insights into product development, CVP design, sales and service processes and marketing programs.

v.

Ability to monitor market and competitor activity and identify opportunities to increase market penetration.

vi.

Ability to build and manage a strong brand position.

vii.

Ability to lead and develop the marketing plan and budget, calendar and marketing communications program for new students, existing students and alumni. Programs include advertising, website, collateral, communication, events and PR.

viii.

Ability to provide development opportunities for staff to allow the achievement of current and future objectives and desired employee engagement.

ix.

Ability to work with SAE Marketing colleagues from Europe, Australia and USA and Navitas Group Marketing to align and integrate activities to maximise business outcomes.

Personal Attributes

i.

In addition to the required educational and professional experiences expressed for the post, ideal candidates would be ambitious, innovative and entrepreneurial.

ii.

A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives.

iii.

Sufficiently mobile and flexible to regularly travel within the UK and occasionally Europe

Experience of both public and private HEI’s would be advantageous but not essential.
