Works closely with:
Children’s Ministry Leadership Team, Student Ministry Staff, Campus Pastors and other Core Ministry Leaders at Park
Primary Purpose:
The Director Student Ministry will be responsible for the development and oversight of the Youth Ministry at Park. This position will provide leadership, vision, direction, and management to this ministry in a dynamic, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities •
Implement and oversee the vision and strategy for the Youth Ministry at Park
•
Foster and encourage youth to get connected and become integrated within the campuses of Park
•
Teach God’s Word from a thoroughly Gospel-centered, Christo-centric framework that is compelling to youth in Chicago, with the ultimate aim of life transformation
•
Provide oversight to the teaching strategy and implementation for youth at Park
•
Provide leadership, including planning and oversight of the weekly gatherings of junior high and high school students that attend the NN campus
•
Provide leadership in the development, planning, and execution of monthly and quarterly events for students at the NN campus as well at Park campuses where youth attend
•
Consistently meet and connect with at least 8- 10 youth weekly beyond regularly scheduled programming times
•
Consistently meet with and connect with at least 2-3 student ministry staff and volunteers on a weekly basis for ongoing development and training
•
Minister to the parents by actively connecting with, listening to, communicating with, and responding well to them via multiple channels of communication on a regular basis
•
Build a growing team of lay leaders and volunteers through enlistment, training, development and empowerment
•
Develop and implement a strategy to raise financial support for the Youth Ministry
•
Develop, manage, and function within the Youth Ministry budget at Park
Required Experience •
Bachelor’s Degree required.
•
Theological consistency with the doctrinal statement of Park
•
Proven ability to preach, teach and minister the gospel to teenagers
•
Experience of a leadership role within a dynamic student ministry
•
Proven track record as a leader of a growing ministry with teens
•
Proven ability to recruit, develop, direct, and mobilize a team of lay leaders and volunteers
•
Have a proven track record of equipping and releasing volunteers in ministry
•
Proven ability to develop and implement strategy
•
Proven ability to start and finish projects
•
Understands this world and transmits the gospel in a way that a youth can understand
•
Previous experience living and doing ministry in a large urban city
Preferred Experience •
Previous experience working with youth who have a variety of educational backgrounds: Public, Private, Christian, Home-Schooled, etc.
•
Previous experience in working with urban youth from a variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds
•
Masters-level Biblical education
•
Proven ability to develop strategic alliances with churches and para-church youth ministries
•
Previous experience at leading fundraisers

Must know how to navigate a city and find it as life-giving and not a life-taking experience
•
Must have the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment; to focus intently on a goal and love being a part of an entrepreneurial, innovative culture
•
Must have a desire to network and build strategic coalitions
•
Needs to have a functional level of administration skills
•
Must be comfortable and competent working in multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environments
•
Must have sufficient emotional and social intelligence to have credibility with parents and other adults
•
Perform general pastoral duties when necessary
