March 4/5 No Condemnation Jason Strand

Jesus Christ died on the cross for us to pay the penalty for sin so we don’t have to live in shame and condemnation anymore. In Him, we are no longer defined by what we have done wrong; we’re defined by what Jesus Christ did right.

Discussion Questions 1. Are there areas in your life that you feel ashamed or embarrassed of today—areas you wish you could wipe clean and start fresh? What are those areas? 2. Jesus sees your sins more clearly than anyone, yet he loves you more than anyone. But he doesn’t want you to continue living in those sins, which is why we tend to feel guilt or conviction for them. In what ways can guilt lead you toward a better life? How is guilt different from shame or condemnation? 3. Read Romans 8:1-3. If we condemn ourselves for sin when God’s Word says “there is now no condemnation,” what are we saying about our view of Christ and of forgiveness? How is that view affecting your own life and your relationship with others? 4. What is the significance of the word “now” in Romans 8:1? How could this verse be an encouragement in your life or in a close friend’s life this week?

Challenge Commit to reading Romans 8 every day this week. Let the words seep into your soul. This one chapter can help you deal with suffering, lead you to salvation, and give you the assurance of eternal life. Memorize your favorite verses from the chapter so that you always have them with you.
