JOY IN BEING CONFIDENT BOB MERRITT

Introduction

May 31/June 1

Being a follower of Jesus isn’t just about getting into heaven someday. In John 10:10, Jesus said that anyone who follows him can enjoy a rich and satisfying life right now. Though happiness is fleeting, joy is constant when you place your faith and trust in Christ. The foundation to experiencing this joy is through the people you love and by becoming the person God created you to be.

Discussion Questions 1.

The Declaration of Independence states that the pursuit of happiness is one of the inalienable rights given to us by God. How do you pursue happiness? What makes you feel happy?

2. Describe a time when you were swept away in a deep current of life and got a clear picture of what really mattered. Read John 3:16 and 15:10-12. How do God’s actions reveal what matters most to him? 3. Who are the people that matter most to you? Do you think of them, thank God for them, and pray for them every day? Be intentional and find ways to express love toward them this week. 4. Read Romans 3:23, 12:2, and Philippians 1:6. We are all works in progress, but what God has started, he’s promised to complete. What has God started in you? How are you working with Him to bring transformation in your life? If you’re not, what first step will you take today so you can experience a life filled with joy?
