Feb. 8/9 Introduction Baptism is an outward sign of an inward reality. It’s a public declaration that you’ve become a follower of Christ, and it declares that your life has been changed by Jesus through his love and grace. Let the following questions guide your discussion on how Christ is changing your life.

What are some of your thoughts and impressions from the baptism service you attended?

Read Matthew 10:32-33. Baptism publicly identifies you as a follower of Christ. What are other ways that identify a person as a follower of Christ? How have your life and actions demonstrated your faith?

1 Peter 1:3 also says we are born into a living hope. What do you think is the significance of combining the words living and hope?

Read Acts 2:14-37. Peter addresses the crowd about Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. How did the crowd respond to Peter? Read John 18:15-18 and 25-27. How has Peter changed since denying Christ (see Acts 2:8)?

1 Peter 1:3 says that God has given us new birth. Read John 3:3-6. How can you tell if someone has been born again or born of the Spirit? Describe your experience of putting your faith in Christ and becoming a child of God.

Baptism is a spiritual marker in our life—a time where we take a significant step of obedience toward God. What have been some significant spiritual markers in your life? When did you accept Christ into your life? What significant experiences brought you to your faith in God?
