Wise mouth–Jason Strand

Introduction The Bible says our words have enormous power for both good and bad, life and death, healing and hurt. A carefully chosen word can give someone hope, heal a marriage, start a friendship, or encourage a dream. This one little muscle in our mouth has more power than all the other muscles in our body combined, for good or bad.

Discussion Questions 1.

When or where are you most prone to using hurtful or reckless words?

2. What are the benefits of choosing your words carefully? 3. Read James 3:1-12. How do you see your words affecting people closest to you? 4. How kind, gentle, and encouraging are your words these days (with your spouse, kids, coworkers, and friends)?

Beyond the Weekend Think of one person who could use encouragement this week, and then share encouraging words with him or her.
