RYAN J STEPHENSON Awarded Eagle Scout

SAFETY CORNER

Tip of the Month

ON FOOT

Choose busy streets and avoid going through vacant lots, alleys, or other deserted areas. At night, walk in well-lit areas whenever possible. Try not to walk or jog alone. Take a friend or neighbor along for company. Get to know the neighborhood and neighbors where you live. Carry your purse close to your body and keep a firm grip on it. Avoid pickpockets by carrying your wallet in an inside coat pocket or front trouser pocket. Lynn Cirillo Steeplechase Security Coordinator

Mark and Deena Stephenson, are proud to announce their son, Ryan J Stephenson has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony was held Sunday, June 5th at Jersey Village Church of Christ witnessed by family, friends and fellow Scouts from Troop 1944. Ryan’s Eagle project was to create a new nature trail for the Klebb Woods Nature Preserve located in Tomball. He planned, executed and funded the project with donations and volunteers from scouting and within the community. Ryan, age 18, is a recent honors graduate of Cypress Ridge High School where he was a member of the Speech & Debate Team for four years and president for two, achieving many tournament awards along the way, including UIL District Champion. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and AP scholar. This Fall, Ryan will be attending the University of Texas at San Antonio majoring in Writing and Rhetoric with future studies in Pre-Law. Ryan joins an elite group of young men who have earned the Eagle rank. The first Eagle was awarded in 1912 and less than 4% of Scouts ever achieve Scouting’s highest honor. This elite brotherhood includes many famous people from astronauts to presidents, business leaders to military generals. The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based organizations. Its programs are designed to build character and leadership capabilities, teach principles of active citizenship and encourage personal fitness.

Congratulations Ryan!

ONLINE SERVICE OPTION FOR CITIZENS REPORTING CRIMES The Sheriff’s Office has implemented an on-line service called “CopLogic” for Harris County citizens to report crimes. This is for reporting lost property, theft or vandalism ONLY and when the complaint has NO suspect information. This service is provided as an option to the citizen in lieu of waiting for a unit to respond to their location. Examples of incidents that can be reported via CopLogic: • LOST PROPERTY: When property is missing or lost, i.e. leaving items in a restaurant or missing from home. • THEFT: Property is taken without the owner’s permission. • VANDALISM: The act of changing, modifying or defacing public or private property, i.e. graffiti, knocking over a mailbox, throwing a rock through a window, etc. To access this service, please visit the Sheriff’s Office web site: • www.hcso.hctx.net • Click on “Report Crime” link at top of screen • Click on “Report an Incident” • Follow instructions on the screen for filing an offense report CopLogic is an alternative method for the citizen to report the crime quickly, get a case number and print a copy of the report. It does not replace entering a call for service for a unit to respond if the citizen prefers to see a unit or does not have access to the Internet. Copyright © 2011 Peel, Inc.
