DAMPER / CLEANing SYSTEM replacement Instructions

Fits charcoal grills with stainless steel dampers, which include: One-Touch® Gold • One-Touch® Deluxe/Platinum • Performer®  Warning: Genuine weber-stephen replacement parts MUST be used for any repair or replacement. Your actions, if you fail to follow this Product Warning, may cause a structural failure, or fire resulting in serious personal injury or damage to property. (Will void all warranty protection)  IMPORTANT NOTE: before performing any work make sure the barbecue is cold and all charcoal residue is removed from the kettle bowl area.

REMOVE GRILL COMPONENTS

CONTROL ROD REMOVAL

A) Remove the lid and grates.

DAMPER REMOVAL OVERVIEW: To remove the old damper, you must dis-engage the Control Rod Tab from the “H” Washer. B) Remove the ash catcher.

The control rod tab keeps the damper assembly locked into place, and should be rotated so that it releases from the damper assembly. This process will require a Flathead screwdriver. “H” Washer

A) Insert the end of Flathead screwdriver between the control rod and the "H" washer.

Note: An extra long Flathead screwdriver may be required.

You should hear a “click” when the control rod tab disengages from the “H” washer.

“H” Drive

C) Continue rotating control rod until the control rod tab aligns with the keyhole in the “H” drive.

Slide the control rod out and away from grill.



The “H” washer will fall away from the grill when the control rod is removed.

D) Remove the damper blade assembly from inside the cooking bowl. Discard old damper components.

B) Using both hands, rotate the Flathead screwdriver and the control rod at the same time.

NEW DAMPER INSTALLATION

A) Lower the new damper assembly into the kettle bowl. B) Make sure that blade #1 is facing towards the front of the grill.

INSTALL “H” WASHER / CONTROL ROD

C) Slide the “H” washer onto the “H” drive (1), while inserting the control rod through the control rod slot located in the ash catcher ring.

DAMPER PLACEMENT

A) Place a weight that is at least 5 pounds (such as a bag of charcoal) on top of the damper blades. This will keep the damper blades stable and prevent them from moving while installing the new “H” washer and control rod.

D) Slide the control rod through the holes in the “H” drive (2). Make sure that the control rod tab is pointing down.

B) Make sure that the keyhole (1) on the “H” drive is facing towards the control rod slot (2). E) Rotate the control rod until it snaps into place.

RE-ASSEMBLE GRILL

A) Remove the weight from the kettle bowl.

B) Re-install the grates, lid and ash catcher bowl.
