Who can be tested? • Anyone who is symptomatic such as a high temperature, a new cough, or a change in sense of taste or smell, or is concerned they may have the virus. When to apply for a test • You need to get the test done in the first five days of having symptoms. • You and anyone you live with must stay at home until you get your result. • Anyone in your support bubble must also stay at home until you get your result. How to book a test • Self-referral - book a test online or call 119 (translation services available). • Employer-referral - [email protected]. • Care homes – [email protected]. • Once you’ve booked a test, you’ll receive a confirmation message with details of your appointment. Test results • You’ll receive results within 48 hours of a swab being taken, or within 72 hours for a home test. • Your results will be delivered by Text or Email. • There are three types of results – negative; positive; unclear, void, borderline or inconclusive. • If you don’t get your result within the timescales indicated above, you should call 119 (7am to 11pm).

Negative test result You don’t have to stay at home if your test is negative, as long as: • Everyone who you live with who has symptoms tests negative. • Everyone in your support bubble who has symptoms tests negative. • You’re not told to stay at home by NHS Test & Trace. • You feel well – if you feel unwell, stay at home until you feel better. Positive test result • If you’ve had symptoms, you should stay at home for at least 10 days from when your symptoms started. • If you didn’t have symptoms, you should stay at home for 10 days from when you had the test. • Anyone you live with, or who’s in your support bubble, should stay at home for 14 days from when you start. Unclear, void, borderline, inconclusive test • You should get another test as soon as possible. • If you’ve had symptoms, you should stay at home and book another test within 5 days. • Outside this time, you should stay at home for 10 days from the outset of symptoms. Anyone you live with, or who’s in your support bubble, should stay at home for 14 days. • If you don’t have symptoms, there’s no need for yourself, or anyone you live with or who’s in your support bubble to stay at home.
