Biographies Jonathan Stapleton Editor, Workplace Savings + Benefits and Professional Pensions Jonathan is the editor of Workplace Savings + Benefits and Professional Pensions. He has previously held the position of deputy editor, online editor and senior reporter on Professional Pensions - as well as working on a range of other finance titles – and has been reporting on the UK occupational pensions and benefits market since the beginning of 2001. Jonathan was named SPC Journalist of the Year 2011 and is holder of the PMI’s Retirement Provision Certificate. He has a degree in economics from the University of London.

Neil Dolby Head of Operations – Alternatives, Aberdeen Asset Management PLC. Neil Dolby is head of alternative operations and leads the team responsible for providing the full range of specialist operational services to support the different multi-manager alternative investment product ranges. Neil joined Aberdeen in 2010 from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group where he was chief operating officer of RBS Asset Management Ltd and responsible for the operational and functional areas of the multi-manager, fund of hedge funds and long-only business. Prior to that, Neil worked for NatWest Group and his career included, amongst other things: head of product risk and head of corporate governance in Coutts Group; head of tax advisory, trust & pension services in Coutts & Co; senior executive of NatWest Wealth Management with responsibility for developing operations/operational risk improvement programmes in the division consisting of Coutts, Gartmore, NatWest Equity Partners and NatWest Investment Services. Neil graduated with a BA in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University.

Paul Govier Partner and Head of Investment Funds London Paul is head of the investment funds group of Maples and Calder in London. He specialises in the establishment and maintenance of private equity funds, hedge funds, CFOs and fund-linked products, advising a range of investment managers, intermediaries and financial institutions. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences. Paul joined Maples and Calder in the Cayman Islands in 2002. He moved to the London office of Maples and Calder in 2004 and was made partner in 2005. Paul is named as a leading private funds lawyer in The International Who’s Who of Private Funds Lawyers and is recommended in the PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook. Paul is also named as a key individual in Chambers UK.

Dr Daniel Summerfield Co-Head of Responsible Investment, USS Investment Management Daniel co-heads the Responsible Investment Team of USS Investment Management, the fund manager for Universities Superannuation Scheme, one of the UK’s largest pension funds. He is responsible for leading USSIM’s work to improve corporate governance performance of companies, hedge funds and markets in which USS invests through the development and implementation of its engagement policy in the UK and overseas. A key focus of USSIM’s responsible investment activity is to integrate extra financial factors into the fund’s investment processes addressing key operational, strategic and governance issues in the fund’s portfolio. Daniel serves as a member of a number of committees in the UK and overseas including the NAPF’s Shareholder Affairs Committee and the Advisory Committee of the American Corporate Governance Institute. Previously, he was the head of corporate governance at the Institute of Directors where he was responsible for the IoD’s work on corporate governance. Daniel also currently serves as a trustee and vice–chair of governors of a local school and is an Honorary Visiting Fellow at the Cass Business School of the City University London. In 2008, he was presented with an award in Corporate Governance by the Yale School of Management’s Millstein Center for Corporate Governance.
