MOVING TOWARD JESUS AND TAKING OTHERS WITH US

Worship Gatherings 8:00 | 9:30 | 11:00 EN ESPAÑOL | 11:00 | HOPEBRIDGE

Senior Pastor’s Report: Matthew St. John Dear Friends, I am always intrigued about how quickly a year goes. What a full and fruitful number of months we have experienced together. God’s grace toward our precious church family is nothing short of extravagant. We have so much for which to be thankful. Consider, from this past year, that through the ministries of New Hope Church we have seen well over 2,000 men, women and children trust Christ for their salvation. We have witnessed just under 1,900 families come through our HopeBridge community center and have distributed more than 126,000 pounds of food. Moreover, we have seen the rise of a dynamic launch team for a church plant. Gospel Life Church is getting underway right now in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood of Minneapolis. Hundreds of people from around the community are joining us with a humble posture of learning how to be a Christ-centered community for all people. Also, we have experienced a profound outpouring of financial generosity. Through your gifts we are able to help countless couples strengthen their marriages, equip scores of students and young adults to move toward Jesus, support global partners in some of the world’s most strategic mission fields, and pray with and encourage those who are ill or homebound. Among many other things, this list includes the new church and food distribution mentioned above. Holistic and vital ministry is impacting the lives of little kids, strangers to Jesus, seasoned saints and more. God is great! On a personal note, let me stress how grateful we are to be with you. Christa and I remain humbled by your love and care. We love you! To paraphrase the Apostle Paul’s tender words to the Philippian disciples, “We hold you in our hearts” (Philippians 1:7). Indeed, we sure do!

2017 Candidates Elder Leadership Team Oversee and promote the spiritual welfare and overall ministry of NHC by being ministers of prayer and encouragement, counselors of wisdom and a prepared crisis team in waiting Saado Abboud Professionally, I have experience as a university professor and corporate executive, and I am currently running my own business consulting firm. I have attended NHC for 15 years and have served on the men’s leadership team and other ministries (including the Elder Leadership Team this year). I’m excited about New Hope’s growing tenderness and desire to remove barriers among people with different upbringings and backgrounds. I have a unique perspective on life and how the Lord can redeem our painful circumstances as a result of growing up in another culture under extremely difficult conditions. I aspire to use that perspective to serve and lead as part of the Elder Leadership Team. Jim Fultz Knowing NHC since I was 10 years old, from my perspective, this local body of Christ has never been healthier. My leadership experience includes music ministry, teaching and Bible translation in several African countries. I am happy to bring many years of experience in multicultural contexts and special sensitivity to others in my season of life to the elder leadership role.

Jerry Hoffman Professionally, I have experience working as a production manager for printing and manufacturing companies, and I now work in the freight industry. I have attended NHC for 19 years, serving in Awana, on various committees and on the elder board. I have been privileged to serve with leaders who desire Jesus and are committed to leading the NHC body into its vision for the future. The people here have a passion and love for the Lord and a desire to move toward Him and take others with them. I am excited to be part of a church body that is moving forward in becoming a cross-cultural community. Nick Johnson I grew up at NHC and returned to the area and this church family four years ago. NHC is an amazing place to raise a family, serve and be sharpened in community. I’m excited about the amazing staff that helps create this environment and the chance to support them. I’ve used my spiritual gift of leadership in several ministry areas including music and drama, youth, college students, men’s ministry, as an elder in another church, as well as in my job as a team leader. I aspire to be a 1 Timothy 3 leader as I use my gifts and experience in this role.

Armando Mazon Professionally, I work as a Senior Software Engineer and I have experience as a Technical Lead. In the five years I have been at New Hope Church I have served the Latino community in worship, teaching and on the leadership team. I am currently serving on the Elder Leadership Team and as a Life Group facilitator. I feel called to this role by the desire to serve people from all races and backgrounds, bringing my perspective which is aligned with the Latino community. I see the gospel transform people living in very different realities through the teaching, worship and fellowship at NHC. Zach O’Neel Fourteen years ago I was struggling with identity and purpose when several pastors came into my life and showed me that I was precious in God’s sight. Now, as the Director of Spiritual Care of a hospice organization, I have the privilege of imparting this truth to chaplains under my leadership. God has given me the capability to unite people around a common goal and inspire them to work together. I have been a part of NHC for 10 years. We have a great assignment to reach our beautifully diverse community and I’m excited to be a part of it. Dale Pust My family and I have attended NHC for more than 20 years and I have served in worship, the Audit Committee and Life Groups. I’m excited about our connections with the community, the dialogue about racial reconciliation, support of adoption and the focus on being a church for all people. Professionally, I am a Firm Administrator/Controller of a CPA firm. I understand good business practices and appreciate a ministry mindset. I recognize the need to balance the two in this setting. I would bring my heart to this role, seeking to compassionately listen and minister to those in our congregation.

This is a great way for me to serve the church and to use the skills God has given me.

Nominations Committee Responsible for choosing and presenting candidates for all elected positions Ingrid Brown The nominations committee is a praying group that is intensely looking to guard the church and put forward godly candidates who will lead us well. New Hope Church has been my church home for about 20 years, and I have had the honor of serving with this group in the past. Sue Johnson This committee is an opportunity to work together as a team to seek the Lord’s will in the significant leadership roles of NHC. I have been a part of New Hope Church for 37 years, I enjoy working with others, am well-connected, and believe God could use me as a part of this committee. Rick Leuck I have been at NHC for the past 21 years and my interest in the role is to serve God and this church body for His glory. When asked to take on this role, I considered the time commitment, the gifts that I’ve been given, and I’ve sought confirmation from the Holy Spirit.

Lori Shedd I am honored to be considered for the Nominations Committee at NHC, my church family for 27 years. My interest lies in leaning on the Holy Spirit’s guidance and direction for New Hope Church. It is a gift to minister whenever the Lord opens doors and I pray He uses me in whatever capacity He desires.
