Baptism represents two outstanding events: first, Yahushua's death, burial, and resurrection; secondly, a death to sin, a burial of the old nature, and a spiritual resurrection on the part of those accepting Yahushua. In this lesson we will learn the meaning and importance of baptism, as well as the way Yahushua showed it should be administered.

Baptized Into Yahushua 1. When was the ordinance of baptism instituted? It began with John the Baptist and Yahushua. 2. What personal example did Yahushua set in respect of baptism? “Then comes Yahushua from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.” Matthew 3:13. Answer: He was baptized by John the Baptist (in river Jordan) not because He had sinned, but as an example to us, and to fulfil all righteousness (Matthew 3:15). Heaven was pleased, for we read, Lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3: 17). He commanded His disciples to baptize converts among all nations. NOTE: The true Christian will obey the command of Yahushua that brings him into such a close relationship with Yahuwah. The baptized believer is actually adopted into the royal family of Yahuwah and takes the royal name of "Christian," a follower of Yahushua, the Christ ("the Anointed"). 3. Of what is baptism a symbol? It is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Yahushua for our redemption. See Romans 6:3-8. NOTE: Just as Yahushua died for the sins of the world, was buried in the tomb, and was resurrected again, so the sinner must die a spiritual death to sin; his old life must be symbolically buried in the waters of baptism, and then he must be raised from the watery grave to live a new life in the Anointed, Yahushua. 4. What does Paul say should be done to the old life of sin? Our old man is crucified with him. Romans 6:6. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. Ephesians 4:22. Put off the old man with his deeds. Colossians 3:9.

5. After the old man of sin is crucified and put off, what else should be done with him? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death .... That the body of sin might be destroyed. Romans 6:4, 6. See Colossians 2:12. 6. What is represented by the candidate's being raised from the watery grave at baptism? A resurrection; a rebirth; the beginning of a new life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. Romans 6:5. After baptism Christians are to walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4).

Prerequisites 7. Is baptism necessary? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahushua, the Anointed, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38. 8. In refusing the baptism of John, what did the Pharisees and lawyers reject? And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified Yahuwah, being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of Yahuwah against themselves, being not baptized of him. Luke 7:29, 30. What should precede baptism? A. The candidate should be carefully taught. Teach all nations, baptizing them. . . teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20. The candidate should be taught all things that Yahushua commanded. This is really much more necessary today than in the apostles' time, for the following reasons: There was a definite risk and sacrifice even in professing Christianity in the days of the apostles. Baptism tended to eliminate a mere nominal profession of His name. People do not relish scorn, reproach, division in the family or martyrdom just to take up a new religion. But, today, it is a matter of honor to be counted an ekklesia member. So every candidate for baptism should understand fully what it means to become a follower of Yahushua. In those days, Yahushua, the Anointed, Himself was the issue. No one thought of any Sabbath but the Bible Sabbath. So that was not an issue. But today it is. Today, the teachings of Yahushua, as well as Yahushua Himself, is the issue. What will the candidate do? Accept Yahushua and reject His teachings? This is impossible. To receive Yahushua as Master and Saviour means to accept all things whatsoever He commanded.

One may join a church that preaches Yahushua and yet deny almost every fundamental doctrine of Bible religion. We have, in the churches today, everything from fanaticism and playing with rattlesnakes, on the one hand, to ethereal ideas that there is no sin or death, but only Yahuwah and life and good. Millions seek some mystic higher plane while evading the eternal teaching of the Word of Yahuwah and avoiding the everlasting truths that sin is the transgression of the law of Yahuwah. That the wages of sin is death, and that Yahushua is the only Saviour from the transgression of the law. It is therefore clearly essential that candidates for baptism be thoroughly taught all things that Yahushua commanded; else the profession of Yahushua may mean fatal delusion and dangerous heresy. B. He must believe. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. Mark 16:16. After being taught, the candidate should, in his heart, believe in Yahushua as Master, as a personal Saviour, and in His teaching. It is not enough to say, I believe in Yahushua. Today that may mean almost anything. He should believe His Word and teachings as recorded in the Bible; and, by faith, follow his Saviour. C. He must repent of his sins. Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahushua, the Anointed, for the remission of sins. Acts 2:38. “For sorrow in accordance with the will of Yahuwah worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10. To repent means to turn away from sin. It means to turn to Yahuwah and righteousness. Man, of his own free will and choice, must make the decision to turn to Yahuwah and away from sin and error. A vital element of true repentance is sorrow, which worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). This repentance Yahuwah will give us if we are willing to turn away from every sin (Acts 5:31; Romans 2:4). Yahuwah's love melts the heart, and the Spirit of Yahuwah makes us truly sorry for sin when we behold the precious Saviour dying for the sins we have committed. D. He must be willing to die to sin (Romans 6:3, 11-13). As Yahushua died for sin, man must die to sin. He will choose to lose a hand, a foot, an eye, before he wills to use them to do evil (Mark 9:4347). His hands will not hold ill-gotten gain or lift to his lips the red and stirring wine that bringeth forth babbling and woe. Nor will he stain his fingers or foul his breath with the poisons of tobacco. His feet will not cross the forbidden places of the world's alluring and sinful pleasures. He will not yield his members as instruments of unrighteousness. E. He must be ready to live for Yahuwah (Romans 6:11,13). And Yahushua will dwell in him by His Holy Spirit. When Satan knocks at his heart door, he will find the old man gone - dead. A little girl put it this way: When Satan comes to my heart's door and calls for me, I tell him that Yahushua lives here, and then Satan goes away. When Yahuwah calls, we yield our members as instruments of righteousness unto Yahuwah. With Isaiah we say. Here am I; send me (Isaiah 6:8). Such are

born again men and women. Candidates for baptism should learn, believe, repent, die to sin, and surrender to Yahuwah; therefore, infant baptism is not Biblical. We may dedicate our children to Yahuwah, but infant baptism is without meaning in the light of these facts. There is no example for it in the New Testament!

The Bible Way 9. What is the only mode of baptism recognized in the Bible? Answer: Immersion. The Greek root word baptizo means to dip, to plunge, to immerse .. to cover with fluid, etc., as material is dipped into a vat of dye, as the blacksmith plunges hot metal into a tank of water. The meaning is definitely not sprinkle or pour. What is the only form of baptism that properly represents Yahushua's burial and resurrection, sprinkling or immersion? Answer: Baptism by water is Yahuwah's plan. This is made clear by Yahushua's words to Nicodemus: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of Yahuwah. John 3:5. John baptized at Aenon, because there was much water there (John 3:23). “Buried with him in baptism” Colossians 2:12. Burial beneath the water, entirely hidden from the world, the eyes closed and breath held, just as in a real burial, then raised again from the water, opening the eyes, catching the breath, and again associating with loved ones, just as in an actual resurrection. 10. Is the method of baptism important? Answer: Yes, because the method is designed to illustrate the meaning and purpose of baptism. Said Paul: "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Yahushua, the Anointed, were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as the Anointed was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Romans 6:3-6 Notice these four points: A. Baptism commemorates Yahushua's death, burial, and resurrection. B. It symbolizes the death and burial of the old man of sin. C. It represents resurrection to newness of life in the Anointed, Yahushua.

D. It indicates the washing away of sin (Acts 22:16). Since baptism commemorates the death, burial, and resurrection of the Anointed One, and Yahushua died and rose but once, those who immerse the individual three times instead of once miss the important point of Yahushua's sacrifice once for all (1 Peter 3:18). Those who baptize the candidate face down, depart from the regular mode of burial. The old man of sin must die and be buried, and the new man (Ephesians 4:22, 24) be brought forth to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). This is symbolized by the candidate's closing his eyes, holding his breath, being buried under the water, being raised up, opening his eyes and breathing again, then walking out of the watery grave. Sprinkling or pouring simply cannot symbolize this spiritual work of grace in the Christian. Baptism is first and foremost an outward symbol of the change made by Yahuwah's grace in the sinner's heart. 11. Does baptism take place in the water? And Yahushua, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water. Matthew 3:16. 12. Do the candidate and the administrator both go into the water? And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of Yahuwah caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no ,more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:38, 39. Answer: Philip and the eunuch went into the water, and came out (Acts 8:36-39). Philip baptized in the same manner as John the Baptist. He and his candidate went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. They then came up out of the water. Here we have but one candidate. He could have been sprinkled with a few drops of water or a cup of water might have been poured over his head, but this would not have been baptism according to Yahushua's example and commandment; hence Philip immersed the eunuch in a pool of water by the side of the road. 13. Why did John sometimes baptize in a place called Aenon? And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they carne, and were baptized. John 3:23. Answer: The water in the Jordan at certain seasons of the year was low, and baptism by immersion would have been difficult. So at such times John went to Aenon. 14. How did the people of Samaria publicly testify to their faith in the preaching of Philip? But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of Yahuwah, and the name of Yahushua, the Anointed, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8: 12.

15. What should every newly converted individual do? Arise and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Anointed. Acts 22:16. Answer: They should make the decision at once to be baptized and then start fellowship with others every Sabbath. 16. In connection with Christian baptism, what is washed away? And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Anointed. Acts 22:16. (See Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 3:21.) Answer: Sins are washed away. 17. By what means are sins washed away? Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood. Revelation 1:5. Answer: By the blood of Yahushua, the Anointed. 18. Into whose name are believers to be baptized?* “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahushua the Anointed for the remission of sins” Acts 2:38. Answer: According to both the Bible and history, the New Testament ekklesia invoked the name of Yahushua at water baptism. Its baptismal formula was in the name of Yahushua, the Anointed, or Master Yahushua, not in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. * PLEASE SEE APPENDIX AT THE END OF THIS LESSON BELOW. 19. Since all denominational churches have fallen in doctrines such as in “Trinitarian Baptismal formula”, what is the door to Yahushua’s home ekklesia? Answer: We are baptized into Yahushua, the Anointed (Romans 6:3). The ekklesia members are called the members of Yahushua's body, and we are baptized into this body of Yahushua on earth. Yahushua calls Himself the door, but we are baptized into Him. Thus baptism is an entrance. Notice three points: A. Yahushua is the head of the true Christian body (Ephesians 4:15-16). B. We become members of Yahushua's body, the ekklesia, at baptism (1 Corinthians 12:20-27). C. We are baptized into one body (1 Corinthians 12:13). 20. Some ask about being baptized more than once?

“And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on the Anointed, Yahushua. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Master Yahushua.” Acts 19:1-5. Answer: In the above scriptures is the record of believers who were baptized twice. Important new truth had come to them, and they acted upon it and were re-baptized. NOTE: There is still another lesson for us in the experience of those Jewish converts. When they received baptism at the hand of John they did not fully comprehend the mission of Yahushua as the Sin Bearer. They were holding serious errors. But with clearer light, they gladly accepted Yahushua as their Redeemer, and with this step of advance came a change in their obligations. As they received a purer faith, there was a corresponding change in their life. In token of this change, and as an acknowledgment of their faith in Yahushua, they were rebaptized in His Name. 21. Some ask whether baptism of the Spirit is not sufficient? “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify Yahuwah. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Master.” Acts 10:44-48 Answer: Here Peter commanded these sincere believers to be baptized in the name of the Master. They had already been baptized with the Holy Ghost.

A Marriage Ceremony 22. When believers are baptized into Yahushua, whom do they put on? For as many of you as have been baptized into the Anointed have put on the Anointed. Galatians 3:27. Answer: Our Master and Saviour, Yahushua, the Anointed. 23. How perfect is the unity into which believers are brought by being baptized into Yahushua? For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is the Anointed. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12, 13. 24. After being united with Yahushua in the likeness of His death and resurrection, what should the believer do?

If ye then be risen with the Anointed, seek these things which are above, where the Anointed sitteth on the right hand of Yahuwah. Colossians 3:1. NOTE: The decision to be baptized is a serious one. If you have not yet taken this step publicly and in the biblical way, we urge you to give it prayerful consideration. Since you have gone through this series of lessons, you have enough knowledge to decide in favor of this most beautiful ceremony. If you have a desire to unite with a people who believe what you have been learning, please let us know and we will assist you in every way possible. May Yahuwah richly bless you as you consider this important step.

Appendix: The Baptismal Formula in Scripture and History The Scriptural Record Every time the Bible records the name or formula associated with an actual baptism in the New Testament ekklesia, it describes the name, Yahushua. All five such accounts occur in the Book of Acts, the history book of the early ekklesia. It records that the following people were baptized in Yahushua's name. The Jews, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahushua, the Anointed, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). The Samaritans. They were baptized in the name of the Master Yahushua (Acts 8:16). The Gentiles. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Master (Acts 10:48). (The earliest Greek manuscripts that we have say, In the name of Yahushua, the Anointed, as do most versions today.) The disciples of John (rebaptized). They were baptized in the name of the Master Yahushua (Acts 19:5). The Apostle Paul. Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Anointed (Acts 22:16). Moreover, the Epistles contain a number of references or allusions to baptism in Yahushua's name. See Romans 6:3-4; I Corinthians 1:13; 6:11; Galatians 3:27 ; Colossians 2:12; James 2:7. The only verse of Scripture that anyone could appeal to in support of a threefold baptismal formula is Matthew 28: 19, in which Yahushua commanded baptism in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. However, there is a very strong case which suggests that these words of Matthew 28:19 were not penned down by Matthew, but that there were added by Rome, many centuries later. For further study on the origin of this verse, we recommend that you view the following short video.

The King James Version (KJV) is mostly used in these lessons. Click here to access the KJV online.

At the second coming of Yahushua, mighty changes will take place upon the earth, it will be destroyed and a place of total darkness. Satan will be bound in this desolate earth that the Scripture describes as "the bottomless pit." He will be held prisoner here for a thousand years. The Bible does not teach that the millennium will be a thousand years of peace and prosperity here upon earth. This is Satan's deception. There are currently five unBibilical teachings circulating about the millennium: A. That Yahushua will not come the second time until the end of the millennium. This is post-millennialism. Those who believe this put Yahushua's coming at least one thousand years in the future. Satan is pleased thus to remove the thought and event far, far away. B. That the millennium will be preceded by a secret coming of Yahushua. Although Yahushua did everything He could to make it clear that His coming would be open and public before saints and sinners (see Revelation 1:7; Acts 1:9-11). C. That the millennium is to be preceded by a seven-year reign of Antichrist. A great host of people today, with all the glorious light of prophecy shining upon world history, do not see the real Antichrist and are looking for one to appear after Yahushua has come. This false theory came as a part of the Counter-Reformation, and was introduced to offset the mighty work of such men as Luther, Calvin, Knox, Wesley, and all the other great Reformers. D. The misconception that the gospel will still be preached during the millennium, after the second coming of Yahushua. E. That Yahushua has already come; and the dead will be raised from time to time during the millennium and given a second chance to accept the gospel while the devil is chained up. If we believe any of the above five deceptions, we are more likely to procrastinate and lose our salvation because of the belief that Yahushua will not be here for at least one thousand years; so you can get ready after the secret coming of Yahushua. Let's study what the Bible teaches about the Millennium.

The Beginning Of The Millennium 1. When Yahushua comes the second time, what will happen to the cities of earth?

"And the cities of the nations fell." Revelation 16:19. "I beheld, and, lo , the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of Yahuwah, and by his fierce anger. For thus hath Yahuwah said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end." Jeremiah 4:26, 27. Answer: The whole earth will become desolate from the devastating earthquake and hailstorm. 2. To what condition will the earth be reduced? "Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment. I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form and void; and the heavens, and they had no light." Jeremiah 4:20, 23. Answer: Total destruction and the earth will be depopulated. 3. What five events mark the beginning of the Millennium? A. Second coming of Yahushua. "For this we say unto you by the word of the Master, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Master shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Master Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Yahuwah; and the dead in the Anointed shall rise first." 1 Thessalonians 4:15-16. Yahushua's advent is preceded by the seven last plagues - most fearful scourges to strike mankind in the long history of our race. The war of Armageddon is the sixth of these plagues. B. Righteous dead resurrected (the first resurrection). "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Yahuwah and of the Anointed, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” Revelation 20:6. "The dead in the Anointed shall rise first,” 1 Thessalonians 4:16. This is the "resurrection of life" to which Yahushua referred (John 5:29). Only the "blessed and holy" come forth to life eternal in this first resurrection. C. Wicked living slain. "The Master Yahushua shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not Yahuwah, and that obey not the gospel of our Master Yahushua, the Anointed." 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8. (See 2 Thessalonians 2:8; Jeremiah 25:31-33.)

The angry nations at war with one another receive of the wrath of Yahuwah as Yahushua, the "King of kings and Master of master," comes to "destroy them which destroy the earth" (Revelation 11:18). As Sovereign Master of the world, Yahushua uses His arsenal of weapons, which are much more potent than any thermonuclear devices and atomic bombs that are likely to be used in the war of Armageddon. "The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10. The spirits of devils inspire the Armageddon conflict. Satan rejoices in war and in the death of Yahuwah's creatures. All nations from east, west, south, and north plunge into the terrible slaughter. Then Yahuwah arises to punish the transgressors of His law of love. "Yahuwah shall roar from on high, and utter His voice from his Holy habitation. . .For Yahuwah hath a controversy with the nations. . . Evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth." Jeremiah 25:30-32. "The kings of the earth and of the whole world" (Revelation 16:14) are destroyed as Yahushua, the great warrior of heaven, rides forth to put down the forces of rebellion (Revelation 19:11-16). All the wicked die and the earth is depopulated. D. All the righteous taken to heaven. "The dead in the Anointed shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Master in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Master." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. (See John 14:1-3). The resurrected saints and the living righteous are taken out of this world to heaven. Please remember that the hour is coming when mercy's voice will be hushed (Revelation 22:11). Then the seven last plagues will be poured out upon an unrepentant world. Armageddon, coming during the sixth plague, follows after man's probation has closed. Those who wait for the time of that battle to get ready for heaven will be disappointed; it will be too late then. E. Satan is bound. "And He laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” Revelation 20:2-3. Yahushua said that He would return and take His people to the mansions He went to prepare. That settles it for you, doesn't it? He will take all the righteous to heaven. The wicked living will perish. The wicked dead who are already in their graves will remain there. Satan will be left alone in the ruined earth, his work of deception ended for 1,000 years. Satan is sentenced to a one-thousand-year term of imprisonment in this world-the very pit of destruction. He is truly bound, "that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled." 4. After the righteous are taken to heaven by Yahushua at His coming, how many persons will be left living on the earth?

"I beheld, and, lo there was no man." Jeremiah 4:25. Answer: The living wicked will be slain by the very presence of Yahushua at the second coming. When an angel appeared at Yahushua's tomb, the entire group of Roman guards fell as dead men (Matthew 28:2, 4). When the brightness of all the angels, our loving Father Yahweh, and His Son combine, the wicked will die as if hit by lightning. Bear in mind that the wicked already dead when Yahushua returns, will still remain in their graves until the end of the 1,000 years. " For our Eloah is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:29. 5. What has happened to the wicked? "And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Master shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming." 2 Thessalonians 2:8. "And the slain of Yahuwah shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground." Jeremiah 25: 33. Answer: The wicked will be utterly overwhelmed by the awful splendor of His coming and will all fall dead to the ground (see 2 Thessalonians 2:8). Unnumbered millions of dead of all nations will be scattered over the earth. There will be no one to lament them or bury them. Wherever they fall, they must remain until the second resurrection. 6. What will happen to Satan at Yahushua's coming? "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years." Revelation 20:1, 2. NOTE: "Here is to be the home of Satan with his evil angels for a thousand years. Limited to the earth, he will not have access to other worlds to tempt and annoy those who have never fallen. It is in this sense that he is bound: there are none remaining, upon whom he can exercise his power. He is wholly cut off from the work of deception and ruin which for so many centuries has been his sole delight. . . For six thousand years, Satan's work of rebellion has 'made the earth to tremble.' He had 'made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof.' And he 'opened not the house of his prisoners.' For six thousand years his prison house has received [Yahuwah's] people, and he would have held them captive forever; but [Yahushua] had broken his bonds and set the prisoners free. "Even the wicked are now placed beyond the power of Satan, and alone with his evil angels he remains to realize the effect of the curse which sin has brought. 'The kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, everyone in his own house [the grave]. But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch. . . . Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people.' Isaiah 14:18-20." The Great Controversy, page 659, 660. 7. After Satan is bound, where will he be cast?

"And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled." Revelation 20:3. Answer: The bottomless pit here referred to is the earth after it has been broken down, made waste and void, and when the sun no longer shines upon it, as described above. It will become a desolate dungeon, and in this abyss Satan and his angels will be confined for one thousand years. He can "deceive the nations no more," because the righteous are in heaven examining the records, and the wicked are dead upon the earth. Thus, he is bound and he cannot even leave the earth to go to other worlds in the universe to try to annoy and deceive them into sin. NOTE: “For a thousand years, Satan will wander to and fro in the desolate earth to behold the results of his rebellion against the law of [Yahuwah]. During this time his sufferings are intense. Since his fall his life of unceasing activity has banished reflection; but he is now deprived of his power and left to contemplate the part which he has acted since first he rebelled against the government of heaven, and to look forward with trembling and terror to the dreadful future when he must suffer for all the evil that he has done and be punished for the sins that he has caused to be committed.” The Great Controversy, page 660. 8. What are the four pieces of evidence that mark the 1,000-year period? A. The earth is desolate-a bottomless pit. "I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of Yahuwah, and by His fierce anger. For thus hath Yahuwah said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end." Jeremiah 4:23-27. The desolation of the earth is brought on by a series of tragic events: (1) the awful plagues, including the general carnage and devastation of Armageddon, huge hailstones and devastating earthquake (Revelation 16:18-21; 6:14-17); (2) the awesome advent of Yahushua in glory, at which time the wicked are destroyed by fire and the earth is broken up by a great earthquake (Revelation 16:17-21). B. The wicked are all dead (Jeremiah 4:25; Isaiah 11:4). C. Satan and his angels are "bound" on a desolate earth (Revelation 20:1-3). D. The righteous are engaged in a work of judgment in heaven (Revelation 20:4-6). "I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgement was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Yahushua, and for the Word of Yahuwah, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands: and they lived and reigned with the Anointed a thousand years" Revelation 20:4. (See 1 Corinthians 6:1-3.) NOTE: The Bible teaches that the saved will have a part in the judgment. But why have a judgment after all cases have been decided? When Yahushua comes, He brings His reward with Him and takes His people to

heaven. But the wicked are to be raised from the dead at the end of the 1,000 years, to receive the punishment of the second death. Just how will Yahuwah deal with these cases? Who will burn in the lake of fire for a short time? Who for a longer time? Suppose you had a very dear Christian friend on earth whom you thought would be in heaven, but in heaven he was not to be found. Well, during the millennium you will find out just how Yahuwah has dealt with his case and the cases of all others. Yahuwah takes a thousand years for this work. He will run no risk of having one single doubt in any mind about His work for fallen man. When the wicked finally have sentence pronounced upon them, it will be clear to all that they deserve the punishment. During this period Yahuwah allows the saved to sit, as it were, beside Him and learn how hard He tried to save every person. I think we shall understand Him better and love Him more after we have learned from the Saviour, Himself, His story of salvation. Don't you? When it is all over we shall say, "True and righteous are Thy judgments." Revelation 16:7. There will be no soil in our hearts for the growth of seeds of doubt. "Yahuwah shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Revelation 21:4. During the 1,000 years, every soul who has ever lived on earth will be in one of two places: (1) on the earth, dead and lost, or (2) in heaven, taking part in the judgment. Yahuwah invites you to be in heaven. Please accept His invitation.

Events At The Close Of The Millennium 9. What is to happen at the end of the one thousand years? "But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished." Revelation 20: 5. This is "the resurrection of damnation" spoken of by Yahushua, as recorded in John 5:29. Only the righteous are raised in the first resurrection. See Revelation 20:6. Since the righteous dead were raised one thousand years earlier, the expression, "the rest of the dead," must refer to the wicked. Answer: The wicked will be raised to life. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

The wicked dead are raised. The Holy City descends to earth with the saints. Satan mobilizes the vast multitude of the wicked against the Holy City and the saints. Yahuwah destroys sin, sinners, death, and hell in that last, final destruction. This is the second death. Yahuwah creates a new earth with all the marks and tracings of sin erased, and He will dwell with His people forever.

Special Assignment for further personal study: The correct method of Scripture study is to look at (all) texts relevant to a subject before coming to a conclusion.

"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:" (Isaiah 28:10) This study is necessary to arrive at the correct quiz answers regarding: (a) some of the things the saved will do after the one thousand years and (b) the fate that awaits the righteous at the second coming. We are given a glimpse of eternal life conditions and activities in the following texts: Isaiah 65:17-25; John 1:14; John 14:2-3; Hebrews 1:2; 1 Thess. 4:17; Revelation 14:4; 1 Corinthians 2:9; Revelation 22:14 (Tree of life); Genesis 1:1; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16; 1 Peter 1 (the mysteries of salvation). "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of Yahuwah! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!" Romans 11:33 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9) There will never be a dull moment; we will have all eternity to keep learning and discovering new things! Examine the above texts carefully and make a list of some of the wonderful things we can anticipate in the world to come. Below is an example of how to link texts to arrive at a conclusion: HE CREATED THE EARTH - and everything else in the whole universe! "In the beginning Yahuwah created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1) "And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in Yahuwah, who created all things by Yahushua:" (Ephesians 3:9) "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:" (Colossians 1:16) HE LATER VISITED US IN PERSON "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) HE ALSO MADE OTHER WORLDS "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;" (Hebrews 1:2) WE WILL BE WITH HIM -

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." (John 14:2-3) "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Master in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Master." (1 Thess. 4:17) WE WILL FOLLOW HIM WHEREVER HE GOES "These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto Yahuwah and to the Lamb." (Rev. 14:4)

CONCLUSION: If He created the earth and later visited us, then it is reasonable to anticipate that He will also visit the other worlds that He made and if we will be with Him always, then we will accompany Him on those exhilarating visits! The above example shows how we can arrive at one of the correct answers to question #24 in the quiz. Question: What fate awaits the righteous at the second coming? Correct Answer: The exhilarating experience of discovering and visiting new places in the universe. Now, re-examine all the given texts; if necessary, maybe you can find more Scriptures on your own to help you arrive at the other correct answers for the quiz. NOTE: “At the close of the thousand years the second resurrection will take place. Then the wicked will be raised from the dead and appear before [Yahuwah] for the execution of 'the judgment written.' Thus the revelator, after describing the resurrection of the righteous, says: 'The rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.' Revelation 20:5. And Isaiah declares, concerning the wicked: 'They shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.' Isaiah 24:22.” The Great Controversy

Bible Study Lessons (part #6) 3. Eternal Life Through Yahushua Go to Part #6 Lessons Index

Go To Quiz (offline/online)

The King James Version (KJV) is mostly used in these lessons. Click here to access the KJV online.

The gift of immortality and eternal life which Yahuwah has promised to all His children is His most precious gift to man. It was to make possible the bestowal of this gift that Yahushua went to Calvary. He died that we might live. Through His stripes we shall be healed of the malady of sin and freed from the sentence of eternal death. We shall receive a gift of life that will measure with the life of Yahuwah. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of Yahuwah is eternal life through Yahushua, the Anointed, our Master." Romans 6:23.

This Life Transitory 1. How are we shown that man does not naturally possess eternal life? “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of Yahuwah is eternal life through Yahushua, the Anointed, our Master.” Romans 6:23. Answer: The doctrine of the natural immortality of the soul is one error with which the enemy is deceiving man. This error is well-nigh universal. But who told men that they would not die? Who told them that Yahuwah has reserved a portion of His universe where the wicked are to suffer, through the ceaseless ages of eternity, without a particle of hope? It was the serpent. Yahuwah said that sinners would die. Satan declares that they will not die. Many believe the oft-repeated lies of the serpent to be genuine truth. 2. What things will be seen in the lives of those who receive the gift of everlasting life? “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to Yahuwah, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” Romans 6:22. NOTE: ‘To those that ask Him, [Yahushua] imparts the Holy Spirit; for it is necessary that every believer should be delivered from pollution, as well as from the curse and condemnation of the law. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, the sanctification of the truth, the believer becomes fitted for the courts of heaven; for [Yahushua] works within us, and His righteousness is upon us. Without this no soul will be entitled to heaven. We would not enjoy heaven unless qualified for its holy atmosphere by the influence of the Spirit and the righteousness of [Yahushua]. In order to be candidates for heaven we must meet the requirement of the law: “Thou shalt love [Yahuwah thy Eloah] with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself” (Luke 10:27). We can do this only as we grasp by faith the righteousness of [Yahushua]. By beholding [Yahushua] we receive a living, expanding principle in the heart, and the Holy Spirit carries on the work, and the believer advances from grace to grace, from strength to strength, from character to character. He conforms to the image of [Yahushua], until in spiritual growth he attains unto the

measure of the full stature in [the Anointed, Yahushua]. Thus [Yahushua] makes an end of the curse of sin, and sets the believing soul free from its action and effect.’ Ye Shall Receive Power, page 65. 3. What did Yahushua say was the qualification for eternal life? “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For Yahuwah so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life...He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of Yahuwah abideth on him.” John 3:15-16, 36. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24. Answer: Believe on the Master, Yahushua, the Anointed. NOTE: Many accept Yahushua as an article of belief, but they have no saving faith in Him as their sacrifice and Saviour. Do you believe that Yahushua, as your substitute, pays the debt of your transgression? Not, however, that you may continue in sin, but that you may be saved from your sins; that you, through the merits of His righteousness, may be re-instated to the favour of Yahuwah.

The Unsaved Die Twice 4. What types of belief does the Bible warn against? Why will some come to believe things which are not true? “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause Yahuwah shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.” 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11. Answer: True faith trusts wholly in Yahushua for salvation, leading to perfect conformity to the law of Yahuwah. “He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him” 1 John 2:4. It is unsafe to trust our feelings or impressions; these are unreliable guides. Yahuwah’s law is the only correct standard of holiness. It is by this law that character is to be judged. 5. When Yahushua was asked what was necessary for man to do to have eternal life, how did He reply? “And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love Yahuwah thy Eloah with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.” Luke 10:25-28. Answer: The world’s Redeemer has plainly specified the conditions of eternal life. Both the conditions and the promise are positive. Yahushua must be the center. We must love Him and when we love Him we will love our neighbour as ourselves.

“If an inquirer after salvation were to ask, 'What shall I do to inherit eternal life?' the modern teachers of sanctification would answer, 'Only believe that [Yahushua] saves you.' But when [Yahushua] was asked this question, He said, 'What is written in the law? How readest thou?' And when the questioner replied, 'Thou shalt love [Yahuwah thy Eloah] with all thy heart . . . and thy neighbour as thyself,' [Yahushua] said, 'Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live' (Luke 10:25-29). True sanctification will be evidenced by a conscientious regard for all the commandments of [Yahuwah], by a careful improvement of every talent, by a circumspect conversation, by revealing in every act the meekness of [Yahushua].” Faith and Works, pages 52, 53. 6. How did Yahushua answer this same question on another occasion? “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, Yahuwah: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” Matthew 19:16-17. NOTE: “The sanctification now gaining prominence in the religious world carries with it a spirit of selfexaltation and a disregard for the law of [Yahuwah] that marks it as foreign to the religion of the Bible. Its advocates teach that sanctification is an instantaneous work, by which, through faith alone, they attain to perfect holiness. “Only believe,” say they, “and the blessing is yours.” No further effort on the part of the receiver is supposed to be required. At the same time they deny the authority of the law of [Yahuwah], urging that they are released from obligation to keep the commandments. But is it possible for men to be holy, in accord with the will and character of [Yahuwah], without coming into harmony with the principles which are an expression of His nature and will, and which show what is well pleasing to Him? The desire for an easy religion that requires no striving, no self-denial, no divorce from the follies of the world has made the doctrine of faith, and faith only, a popular doctrine; but what saith the word of [Yahuwah]? Says the apostle James: “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? . . . Wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” The Great Controversy, pages 471-472. 7. What promise did Yahushua give to those who are willing to sacrifice in this life for His sake? “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.” Matthew 19:29. 8. What condition did Yahushua speak of for those who wish to receive eternal life? What did He mean by this? “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day... It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:54, 63. NOTE: "To eat the flesh and drink the blood of [Yahushua] is to receive Him as a personal Saviour, believing that He forgives our sins and that we are complete in Him. It is by beholding His love, by dwelling upon it, by drinking it in, that we are to become partakers of His nature. What food is to the body, [Yahushua] must be to the soul. Food cannot benefit us unless we eat it, unless it becomes a part of our being. So [Yahushua] is of no value to us if we do not know Him as a personal Saviour. A theoretical knowledge will do us no good. We must

feed upon Him, receive Him into the heart, so that His life becomes our life. His love, His grace, must be assimilated." The Desire of Ages, page 389. 9. How did Peter show his understanding of Yahushua’s words? “Then Simon Peter answered him, Master, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that the Anointed, the Son of the living Eloah.” John 6:68-69. NOTE: "Spiritual life must be sustained by communion with [Yahushua] through His Word. The mind must dwell upon it; the heart must be filled with it. The Word of [Yahuwah] laid up in the heart and sacredly cherished and obeyed, through the power of the grace of [Yahushua], can make man right, and keep him right; but every human influence, every earthly invention, is powerless to give strength and wisdom to man. It cannot restrain passion, or correct deformity of character. Unless the truth of [Yahuwah] controls the heart, the conscience will be warped. But in these worldly societies the mind is turned away from the Word of [Yahuwah]. Men are not led to make it the study and the guide of life."Selected Messages, Book 2, page 124. 10. How did Yahushua explain the Christian life and its reward? “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:27-28. NOTE: "[Yahushua] is the Good Shepherd. He leads the way, calling upon His sheep to follow him. Those who hear and obey His voice will follow His example in all things. Becoming acquainted with Him, they will grow daily more and more like Him. They will be meek and lowly, free from jealousy and envy. Do we hear [Yahushua’s] voice? Are we following Him? It is of great importance that we know whether we are following the True Shepherd. In order to know this, we must search His Word; for it is His voice speaking to us. “What saith the Scriptures?” is to be our watchword at every step. In [Yahuwah’s] word we may find an answer to every question. From it light shines upon our pathway, revealing the Good Shepherd as He goes before us." Youth Instructor, October 3, 1901 par. 3 11. What has Yahushua promised to those who follow Him? “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.” 1 John 2:25. 12. What characteristics will be found in those who receive eternal life? “To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.” Romans 2:7. Compare Revelation 14:12. NOTE: "Patient continuance in well-doing will lead you through this world of sorrow and strife to glory and honour and eternal life. Have [Yahuwah] within and [Yahuwah] overhead and you have nothing to fear. The Bible is a light to those who are in darkness. In the prospect of a blissful immortality held out to those who endure unto the end, you will find an elevating power, a strength which you need to resist evil. Be steadfast in the hour of trial, and you will gain at last a crown which will never fade away."This Day With God, page 194.

13. What battle must all those engage in who will receive eternal life? “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12. Will you choose eternal life that is freely offered to you today?

Those whose lives are transformed by the gospel immediately become citizens of the kingdom of Yahushua. They "are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of Yahuwah." Ephesians 2:19. For, "as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of Yahuwah, even to them that believe on his name." John 1:12. They are gathered by the gospel out of "every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people" (Revelation 14:6). They are welded together into a "holy nation." They become "the people of Yahuwah" (1 Peter 2:9, 10). This transfer of allegiance changes everything. The old desires and lusts are crucified, and the affections are now set on "things above." (Colossians 3:2.) Those things which once were loved are now hated, and in the heart is a desire to do the entire will of Yahuwah. Of this change Yahuwah declares: "I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them Eloah, and they shall be to me a people." (Hebrews 8:10).

The Law in Eden 1. Why did Yahuwah give mankind His commandments? A. Standard of righteousness. “Know His Will, being instructed out of the law.” Romans 2:18. See also Psalm 119:142, 172.

B. Reveals any lapse from obedience and also reveal the difference between right and wrong. “By the law is the knowledge of sin.” Romans 3:20. “I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.” Romans 7:7. C. For happiness and long life. "He that keepeth the law, happy is he." Proverbs 29:18. "Keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee." Proverbs 3:1,2. NOTE: The soul must first be convicted of sin before the sinner will feel a desire to come to Yahushua. “Sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4). “I had not known sin, but by the law” (Romans 7:7). When the commandment came home to Saul’s conscience, sin revived, and he died. He saw himself condemned by the law of Yahuwah. The sinner cannot be convinced of his guilt unless he understands what constitutes sin. It is

impossible for an individual to experience Bible sanctification while he holds that if he believes in Yahushua it is immaterial whether he obeys Yahuwah’s law or disobeys it. 2. How does Paul clarify the problem concerning right and wrong understandings of the purpose for Yahuwah’s law? “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight.” Romans 3:20. Yahushua did not come to excuse sin, nor to justify a sinner while he continued to transgress that law for which the Son of Yahuwah was to give His life to vindicate and exalt. Had it been possible for the law to be cancelled, Yahushua would have not have needed die. Yahuwah could have taken the sinner back into favour by annulling the law. But this could not be. The law holds the transgressor in bondage, but the obedient are free. The law cannot cleanse from sin; it condemns the sinner. The sinner may stand justified before Yahuwah only through repentance toward Him, and faith in the merits of Yahushua, the Anointed. The law is a great mirror by means of which the sinner may discern the defects in his moral character. But the mirror cannot remove those defects. The gospel points to Yahushua as the only one able to remove the stains of sin by his blood. Though the law has no pardoning power, it is the only means by which to explain to the sinner what sin really is. By the law is the knowledge of sin. Without the law, Paul tells us sin is dead. 3. How does the Bible define sin? “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” 1 John 3:4. “Our only definition of sin is that given in the Word of [Yahuwah]; it is 'the transgression of the Law.'" The Great Controversy, page 492. 4. What verses are sometimes quoted as alternative definitions of sin? “Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” Romans 14:23. “To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:17. In the case of Romans 14:23, those who use this verse as a definition of sin are not thinking logically. When the Bible says, ‘Sin is…’ we are likely [though not always] to be looking at a definition. When the Bible says, ‘…. is sin,’ we are more probably looking at an example of sin.

Adam Broke The Law 5. How did mankind come to forfeit eternal life in the first place? “And Yahuwah Elohim commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” “And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohim hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For Elohim

doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as elohim, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” Genesis 2:16-17; 3:2-6. Answer: Man divorced himself from Yahuwah by transgression. And the reason why man was not destroyed was because Yahuwah so loved him that He made the gift of His dear Son that He should suffer the penalty of his transgression. Yahushua proposed to become man’s surety and substitute, that man, through matchless grace, should have another trial, a second probation, having the experience of Adam and Eve as a warning not to transgress Yahuwah’s law as they did. 6. How does Paul explain the importance of Yahuwah’s law in defining sin? “I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.” Romans 7:7. Answer: The sense of sin, urged home by the law, drives the sinner to the Saviour. The law and the gospel are in perfect harmony. Each upholds the other 7. Does faith in the blood of Yahushua, shed on Calvary for us, remove the obligation to obey Yahuwah’s law? “Do we then make void the law through faith? Yahuwah forbid: yea, we establish the law.” Romans 3:31. Paul employs no stronger negative expression than the one translated as ‘Yahuwah forbid.’ NOTE: There are two errors against which the children of Yahuwah, particularly those who have just come to trust in His grace, especially need to guard. The first is that of looking to their own works, trusting to anything they can do, to bring themselves into harmony with Yahuwah. It is the grace of Yahushua alone, through faith, that can make us holy. The opposite and no less dangerous error is that belief in Yahushua releases men from keeping the law of Yahuwah; that since by faith alone we become partakers of the grace of Yahushua, our works have nothing to do with our redemption. But notice here that obedience is not a mere outward compliance, but the service of love. “Is he now free to transgress [Yahuwah's] law? Says Paul: "Do we then make void the law through faith? [Yahuwah] forbid: yea, we establish the law." "How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" And John declares: "This is the love of [Yahuwah], that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous." Romans 3:31; 6:2; 1 John 5:3. In the new birth the heart is brought into harmony with [Yahuwah], as it is brought into accord with His law. When this mighty change has taken place in the sinner, he has passed from death unto life, from sin unto holiness, from transgression and rebellion to obedience and loyalty. The old life of alienation from [Yahuwah] has ended; the new life of reconciliation, of faith and love, has begun. Then "the righteousness of the law" will "be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Romans 8:4. And the language of the soul will be: "O how love I Thy law! it is my meditation all the day." Psalm 119:97.” The Great Controversy page 468.

Written On Tables Of Stone 8. How did Yahushua express the enduring nature of Yahuwah’s law? “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:17-18. Some may argue that Yahushua obeyed the law perfectly and therefore all has been fulfilled, according to verse 18. But fulfilled does not mean abolished, brought to an end or done away with. Read the following verses to understand the Biblical use of the word ‘fulfil.’ In Matthew 3:15 was Yahushua abolishing righteousness (or baptism)? Acts 13:22 talks of David as a man after Yahuwah’s own heart because he fulfilled Yahuwah’s will. Surely, David didn’t abolish Yahuwah’s will. In Romans 2:27, Romans 13:14, Galatians 5:16, Galatians 6:2, Colossians 4:17, James 2:8 & Revelation 17:17 ‘fulfil’ means ‘carry out’ or ‘do’. NOTE: “In the precepts of His holy law, [Yahuwah] has given a perfect rule of life; and He has declared that until the close of time this law, unchanged in a single jot or tittle, is to maintain its claim upon human beings. [Yahushua] came to magnify the law and make it honourable. He showed that it is based upon the broad foundation of love to [Yahuwah] and love to man, and that obedience to its precepts comprises the whole duty of man. In His own life He gave an example of obedience to the law of [Yahuwah]. In the Sermon on the Mount He showed how its requirements extend beyond the outward acts and take cognizance of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The law, obeyed, leads men to deny “[impiety] and worldly lusts,” and to “live soberly, righteously, and [Yahuwah-like], in this present world.” Titus 2:12. But the enemy of all righteousness has taken the world captive and has led men and women to disobey the law. As Paul foresaw, multitudes have turned from the plain, searching truths of [Yahuwah’s] word and have chosen teachers who present to them the fables they desire. Many among both ministers and people are trampling under their feet the commandments of [Yahuwah]. Thus the Creator of the world is insulted, and Satan laughs in triumph at the success of his devices.” Acts of the Apostles, page 505. 9. Why is there general rebellion against Yahuwah’s holy law? “The carnal mind is enmity against Yahuwah: for it is not subject to the law of Yahuwah, neither indeed can be." Romans 8:7. Society today lives in rebellion against Yahuwah's law. Everyone acknowledges that it is a good law, but few people want to obey it. Only by the new birth can the carnal mind and heart of man be changed. According to the new covenant promise (Ezekiel 36:26-27), Yahuwah will write His law in our hearts (Hebrews 8:10). But we must be willing. Are we? NOTE: “It is impossible for us, of ourselves, to escape from the pit of sin in which we are sunken. Our hearts are evil, and we cannot change them. "Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one." "The carnal mind is enmity against [Yahuwah]: for it is not subject to the law of [Yahuwah], neither indeed can be." Job 14:4; Romans 8:7. Education, culture, the exercise of the will, human effort, all have their proper sphere, but here they are powerless. They may produce an outward correctness of behavior, but they cannot change the heart; they cannot purify the springs of life. There must be a power working from within, a new life from

above, before men can be changed from sin to holiness. That power is [Yahushua]. His grace alone can quicken the lifeless faculties of the soul, and attract it to [Yahuwah], to holiness.” Steps To Christ, page 18.

Yahushua Exemplifies The Law 10. What warning did Yahushua give to those who try to teach people that some of Yahuwah’s Ten Commandments are no longer binding? “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:19. Those who have despised Yahuwah's law have miscalculated His character. They will discover, in the final day of judgment, that He is an Eloah of justice as well as mercy. Here are the words that He speaks to the despisers of His kingdom and His law: "Not everyone that saith unto Me, Master, Master, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the Will of My Father which is in heaven. Many Will say to Me in that day, Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Thy name? And in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:21-23. 11. How does the apostle John describe those who profess to know Yahushua but refuse to obey the ten commandments of Yahuwah? “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4. NOTE: “Let none deceive themselves with the belief that they can become holy while wilfully violating one of [Yahuwah’s] requirements. The commission of a known sin silences the witnessing voice of the Spirit and separates the soul from [Yahuwah]. “Sin is the transgression of the law.” And “whosoever sinneth [transgresseth the law] hath not seen Him, neither known Him.” 1 John 3:6. Though John in his epistles dwells so fully upon love, yet he does not hesitate to reveal the true character of that class who claim to be sanctified while living in transgression of the law of [Yahuwah]. “He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of [Yahuwah] perfected.” 1 John 2:4, 5. Here is the test of every man’s profession. We cannot accord holiness to any man without bringing him to the measurement of [Yahuwah’s] only standard of holiness in heaven and in earth. If men feel no weight of the moral law, if they belittle and make light of [Yahuwah’s] precepts, if they break one of the least of these commandments, and teach men so, they shall be of no esteem in the sight of Heaven, and we may know that their claims are without foundation.” The Great Controversy, page 472.

Yahuwah Supplies The Power 12. What is the Christian’s reason for wanting to obey the Ten Commandments?

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.” “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.” John 14:15, 21, John 15:10, 2 John 6. Compare Deuteronomy 11:1, Joshua 22:5, Daniel 9:4. NOTE: “The man who attempts to keep the commandments of [Yahuwah] from a sense of obligation merely, because he is required to do so, will never enter into the joy of obedience. He does not obey. When the requirements of [Yahuwah] are accounted a burden because they cut across human inclination, we may know that the life is not a Christian life. True obedience is the outworking of a principle within. It springs from the love of righteousness, the love of the law of [Yahuwah]. The essence of all righteousness is loyalty to our Redeemer. This will lead us to do right because it is right, because right doing is pleasing to [Yahuwah].” Christ’s Object Lessons, page 97. 13. How does John define the practical outworking of love to our fellowmen? “By this we know that we love the children of Yahuwah, when we love Yahuwah, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of Yahuwah, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:2-3. 14. What promise is held out to those who are obedient to Yahuwah’s holy law? "Great peace have they which love Thy law: and nothing shall offend them." Psalm 119:165. Answer: The Christian who has a correct knowledge of Yahuwah will love Him and His law. He will find peace in loving obedience. Isaiah declares that this peace and righteousness that all obedient followers of Yahuwah enjoy is like "the waves of the sea." "O that thou hadst hearkened to My commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea." Isaiah 48:18. “"Blessed are the peacemakers." The peace of [Yahushua] is born of truth. It is harmony with [Yahuwah]. The world is at enmity with the law of [Yahuwah]; sinners are at enmity with their Maker; and as a result they are at enmity with one another. But the psalmist declares, "Great peace have they which love Thy law: and nothing shall offend them." Ps. 119:165. Men cannot manufacture peace. Human plans for the purification and uplifting of individuals or of society will fail of producing peace, because they do not reach the heart. The only power that can create or perpetuate true peace is the grace of [Yahushua]. When this is implanted in the heart, it will cast out the evil passions that cause strife and dissension. "Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;" and life's desert "shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose." Isa. 55:13; 35:1.” The Desire of Ages, page 302.

“The fatal error which wrought such woe for the inhabitants of France was the ignoring of this one great truth: that true freedom lies within the proscriptions of the law of [Yahuwah]. "O that thou hadst hearkened to My commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea." "There is no peace, saith Yahuwah, unto the wicked." "But whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil." Isaiah 48:18, 22; Proverbs 1:33.” The Great Controversy, page 285. Do you want Yahushua to come and live in your heart and live out His law in your life?

The rebellion is ended. The Anointed, Yahushua, is gloriously victorious. The fires of hell have done their purifying work Satan, sin, and sinners are gone; they have utterly perished from the face of the earth. Gone also are all the works of man. Every defiling and hurtful thing has been destroyed in the flames, The results of sin are past. The destruction of Satan and all his followers will finally open the way for the complete establishment of Yahushua's kingdom upon earth and the restoration of man to his Paradise home. It was Yahuwah's original purpose that righteous men should dwell on the earth, and this purpose, though temporarily halted by the intrusion of sin, finally will be carried out. Soon we shall witness the coronation of our King. Those whose lives have been hidden with Yahushua, those who on this earth have fought the good fight of faith, will shine forth with the Redeemer's glory in the kingdom of Yahuwah.

Paradise Lost 1. When Yahuwah created the earth, to whom did He give it and with how many treasure? "The heaven, even the heavens, are the Sovereign's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men." Psalm 115:16. Answer: To Adam with four treasures. A. Life "Yahuwah Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7. In the beginning man was given life. He was created from the dust of the ground. Elohim breathed into his nostril the breath of life. He became "a living soul" (Genesis 2:7). Man had not existed before. He did not create himself. For his very existence, he was indebted to Yahuwah -only to Yahuwah. B. A righteous nature "Elohim said, Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness." Genesis 1:26. "Elohim hath made man upright." Ecclesiastes 7:29. Yahuwah gave Adam, the first man, a righteous nature. Surely a good, wise, and all-powerful Eloah would do no less than that. A good Eloah would desire to make a good man. And this is

exactly what He did. Adam and Eve, our first ancestors (Luke 3:38), were innocent and pure when they came forth from the hand of their Creator. C. A home in a beautiful world "Yahuwah Elohim planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made Yahuwah Elohim to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food." Genesis 2:8-9. "Elohim saw every thing He had made, and, behold, it was very good." Genesis 1:31. Yes, Yahuwah gave man a home, in a garden, in a lovely primeval world. This is no more and no less than we would expect Yahuwah to do. He is the author of the home and marriage, of beauty and happiness. Security was to be bound up with the home and family life. D. Dominion of the earth. "Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." Genesis 1:28. Yahuwah gave man dominion. Although man was made "a little lower than the angels," yet he was equipped with intelligence and management, that he might be in charge of Yahuwah's creation here. "Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet." Psalm 8:6. What an outlook! Life with abundant health: a righteous character: a home in a beautiful, sinless world; and dominion over the created works of Yahuwah! What more could man desire? Just one thing - that this happy state might last forever! And that depended upon man. For Yahuwah placed him under obedience to law as an indispensable condition to his very existence. Furthermore, Yahuwah gave to man the power and freedom of choice. Only in this way could man be a morally responsible being. Only thus could he develop character. "Obedience, perfect and perpetual, was the condition of eternal happiness." In Yahuwah's order, obedience springs from love and is rendered by choice. But it is, nevertheless, imperative. A special test was arranged. A certain tree was to be left strictly alone (Genesis 2:8-9, 15-17). What an easy test! No great deed, work, or sacrifice was required. There could be no possible reason for transgression. The very lightness of the prohibition would make the sin great. If man sinned, it would be deliberate. Yahuwah could not be blamed, for He had told them to leave the tree alone. They must have understood this to be a simple test of their faith - nothing more. But we all know what happened (Genesis 3). 2. How did man lose these four treasures and to whom? "For of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage." 2 Peter 2:19. "And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it." Luke 4: 5, 6.

Answer: By sin and lost it to the devil. And what reason can be given for man's sin? None. To give a reason would be to justify the deed. Only excuses and explanations can be offered. Yes, that is the way it is. Adam blamed Yahuwah for giving him Eve. Eve blamed the serpent for everything, She had listened to his story about getting on a higher plane, about being like elohim. Many today are being lured by the ancient sophistries of the devil, streamlined for moderns. There was no need for Eve to be deceived. She had to reject Yahuwah's truth first, before she could accept the devil's deception. Had Yahuwah not given her truth, the situation would have been different, Adam was not deceived. He walked into sin with his eyes open, taking the risk and hoping Yahuwah would be merciful. He made an excuse for Eve. He loved her more than he did Yahuwah. And what tragedy resulted! It is always disastrous to disobey Yahuwah. Adam gambled and lost, And what did he lose? All that Yahuwah gave him. "Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." 1 Timothy 2:14. A. Man lost life. “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return" Genesis 3:19 (Romans 6:23). As the result of his sin he was removed from access to the tree of life, lest he should "eat, and live for ever" (Genesis 3:22), Man was not immortal by nature or creation. Sin, Yahuwah warned, would bring death, not life. "All the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died" (Genesis 5:5). Sin is real: and death is real. Yahuwah says so. The devil disputed Yahuwah's Word. Man found Yahuwah's Word is right. B. Man lost his righteous nature. "By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." Romans 5:12. "All unrighteousness is sin," 1 John 5:17. The unnumbered volumes of history record the deeds of man's sinful career for long millenniums. No words need be added here. Adam lost his righteous nature. C. Man lost his Eden home. "Therefore Yahuwah Elohim sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life." Genesis 3:23-24. D. Man lost his dominion. "Of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage," 2 Peter 2:19 "The elohim of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of the Anointed, who is the image of Yahuwah, should shine unto them." 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Having cast off the dominion Yahuwah had over him, man lost the dominion Yahuwah had placed under him. He was now in a world fallen to the dominion of Satan. A curse was also pronounced upon the earth for man's sake. "Cursed is the ground for thy sake: in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life" (Genesis 3:17). Sinful man in a sinful world needed the discipline of toil and care. No civilization has yet been able to endure ease and luxury. Our civilization today is no exception. And yet the tired and weary heart of man longs for the time of restoration to come when the dominion lost through sin will be his once more.

A New Earth 3. How will Yahushua restore the four treasures? Answer: The Saviour came to earth "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10), He purchased our salvation by shedding His "precious blood" (1 Peter 1:19). Then He returned to heaven, "having obtained eternal redemption for us" (Hebrews 9:12). Though every man is born in sin, no man has a right to place a low estimate upon himself, Yahuwah so valued man that He gave heaven's greatest gift for his redemption. He could not have given more. Think now of the treasures that will be restored to us through the gospel. A. Life restored. No matter how a man dies, Yahuwah can raise him up. His ashes may be strewn on the moving bosom of a river and carried to the bounds of seven seas, but Yahuwah can raise him up to everlasting life. Here are the promises of life restored by the Life giver, Yahushua, the Anointed: "Yahuwah so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life," John 3:16. "The gift of Yahuwah is eternal life through Yahushua, the Anointed, our Master." Romans 6:23. B. Righteousness restored. A sinner comes to Yahuwah. His sins are confessed, forsaken, and forgiven. Love is awakened in his soul, and the process of restoration begins. Sanctification is another name for it. The work is done by the Spirit of Yahuwah, and the Word of Yahuwah has a part. "Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth" (John 17:17). Cooperation with Yahuwah is paramount in this process. Here are the promises: "Therefore if any man be in the Anointed, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold. all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17. "We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of Yahuwah, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as the Spirit of Yahuwah." 2 Corinthians 3:18. C. Man’s beautiful home restored.

Many an infidel, millions of skeptics, and some Christians have asked, "Why doesn't a good and mighty Creator put an end to this cruel, suffering world?" The answer is, "He is planning to do that very soon." The first step will be Yahushua's second coming. The next and the last step will be taken at the end of the 1,000 years, as you have studied. New heavens and a new earth will be created, and Yahuwah will dwell here with His people forever. Here are the promises: "He shall send Yahushua, the Anointed, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which Yahuwah hath spoken by the mouth of His holy prophets since the world began." Acts 3:20-21. "Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." Isaiah 65:17. D. Dominion restored. We do not propose to speculate on the details of the future life. Its loveliness will surpass our fondest dreams, its beauty will exceed the greatest flight of our imagination, and its joys soar beyond our highest hopes. There, man's lost mastery of himself and his dominion of the earth shall be restored as Yahuwah has promised. "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne," Revelation 3:21. "I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Master." Matthew 25:21.

Paradise Restored 4. When will this restoration occur? "Wait on Yahuwah, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it." Psalm 37:34. 5. What will the earth look like when re-created? "The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, ... they shall see the glory of Yahuwah, and the excellency of our Eloah. : .. " Isaiah 35:1, 2. 6. In what activities will the righteous participate in this new earth? "And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them .... And mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands." Isaiah 65:21, 22.

The New Jerusalem 7. What has Yahuwah prepared for the righteous in this new earth? "Yahuwah is not ashamed to be called their Eloah: for he hath prepared for them a city." Hebrews 11:16.

8. What does John tell us of the magnificence of this city? "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from Yahuwah out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband .... " Revelation 21:2-27; 22. 9. What will be the privilege of those who enter the city? "The throne of Yahuwah and of the Lamb shall be in it; . . . and they shall see his face." Revelation 22:3, 4. 10. What seasons of worship will be observed in the new earth? “And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith Yahuwah." Isaiah 66:23.

Country Homes 11. How will the ransomed of Yahuwah return to their home? "The ransomed of Yahuwah shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." Isaiah 35:10. 12. How long will this kingdom last? "The saints of the most high shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever." Daniel 7:18. 13. How shall we make sure of a place over there? Answer: There are three important guideposts to help direct your feet as you journey heavenward. Here they are: A. Confess Yahushua before men. "Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven" Matthew 10:32 (Luke 9:26). B. Obey Yahuwah's commands and instructions. "If ye love Me, keep My commandments," John 14:15. "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Revelation 22:14. C. Keep an eye of faith on the better world.

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country." Hebrews 11:13-14. NOTE: “In the Bible the inheritance of the saved is called "a country." Hebrews 11:14-16. There the heavenly Shepherd leads His flock to fountains of living waters. The tree of life yields its fruit every month, and the leaves of the tree are for the service of the nations. There are ever-flowing streams, clear as crystal, and beside them waving trees cast their shadows upon the paths prepared for the ransomed of [Yahuwah]. There the wide-spreading plains swell into hills of beauty, and the mountains of [Yahuwah] rear their lofty summits. On those peaceful plains, beside those living streams, [Yahuwah's] people, so long pilgrims and wanderers, shall find a home.” The Great Controversy, page 675. Have you decided to accept Yahushua's glorious offer to live with Him forever in His heavenly kingdom?
