COACHES CORNER Tonight is another tough AAC match as we face Milligan College who was the preseason conference favorite. In our earlier meeting we played with them up until the the 15 point range but struggled with mental errors and Milligan was always able to pull away. We will focus on slowing down their middle attackers and believe that is our best chance to win tonight. We see continued improvement from our middle hitter’s in Angi Highlander and Megan Randall and will be counting on them for some huge defense tonight. I also wish to congratulate Yeda Duarte as she is quickly approaching the 2000 career digs milestone and may achieve that feat tonight.

this season The Bluefield Lady Rams are coming into tonight’s match with a few days off after a postponed match at Division II side, Concord University. The Lady Rams are looking for a big win tonight at home versus Milligan. BC is on a current seven-game losing streak. Bluefield begins in a stretch of eight games, seven of which are at home. They will only play one more away AAC match in 2011, which is against Union (Ky.) on Oct 26. Nationally, Yeda Duarte ranks number 15 in Division I in Digs per Game (5.710). In the NAIA, Bluefield College ranks number 6 in Division I in Digs per Game (19.090) nationally. Tonight’s match could include a huge milestone in not only Bluefield College volleyball history, but also personally for Senior Libero Yeda Duarte. Duarte currently sits with 1,983 digs in her career. The 2,000th dig mark only happens around 20 times annually across the country.
