WE GATHER TO WORSHIP Greeting One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. All: And also with you. One: Let us prepare for worship.

Kirsten Homdrom

Preparation for Worship Everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being, you have made us for yourself, so that our hearts are restless until they rest in you. Give us purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing your will, no weakness keep us from doing it; that in your light we may see light clearly, and in your service find perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Introit (9:30) God of Great and God of Small

Natalie Sleeth (1930-1992)

God of great and God of small, God of one and God of all, God of weak and God of strong, God to whom all things belong, sing together, sing together, praise be to your name. God of silence, God of sound, God in whom the lost are found, God of day and darkest night, God whose love turns wrong to right, sing together, sing together, praise be to your name.

Have mercy upon us by the wonder of your steadfast love. All: By your mercies, wash us and cleanse us. Help us in our worship to learn the power of your love. One: God desires truth from us—in our most inward places. All: May God teach us wisdom—may we know joy and gladness. One: In your mercy, teach us the way of your Son as we worship and praise your holy name. *Hymn 209 - My Song Is Love Unknown

LOVE UNKNOWN

*Call to Confession *Prayer of Confession Loving God, we confess today that we are blinded by many things: envy, greed, shame, anxiety and temptation. Making matters worse, we run from activity to activity with such speed that we are never still long enough to see Jesus for who and what he truly is. Open our eyes, forgive our sins, and heal our hearts in order that we might know your love and know that love as completely as possible. In the name of Jesus, the one whom we long to see, we make this our prayer of confession. Amen. *Assurance of Pardon

*Passing of the Peace *Response Hymn 414 - Be Still and Know

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Presentation of Tithes and Offerings Offertory Anthem - “Lacrymosa” from Requiem

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-91)

Sung in Latin; English translation: Day of weeping, day of sorrow, day when they from dust shall rise to face their Judge eternal. Gentle Jesus, Holy One, grant unto them eternal peace and rest. Amen.

*Offertory Response Hymn 822 - When We Are Living, stanza 2 Through all our living, we our fruits must give. Good works of service are for offering. When we are giving, or when receiving, we belong to God, we belong to God. *Affirmation of Faith We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father. In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image male and female, of every race and people, to live as one community. But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator. Ignoring God’s commandments, we violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth, exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care. We deserve God’s condemnation. Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation. In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth.

*All who are able may stand.

SOMOS DEL SEÑOR

from A Brief Statement of Faith

(continued)

Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage. Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant. Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still. WE GO IN GOD’S NAME *Hymn 692 - Spirit, Open My Heart

WILD MOUNTAIN THYME

*Charge and Benediction During the season of Lent, the congregation is invited to be seated for the postlude.
