We will live out the Gospel by connecting people to Christ,

What is ONE by ONE? The One by One Initiative is a journey of growing our faith and generosity. For two years, many at Calvary have committed to give sacrificially in order to put our mission into action – living out the Gospel by connecting people to Christ, community and their calling. All giving is now credited to the ONE Fund (no more separate designations except for personal sponsorships). Specific goals and more details about the Initiative can be found at onefund.calvarysc.org. Total Commitments

If this is your first time here (or if your information has changed), please fill out this card and drop it in the offering plate or bring it to the Connection Center. We’d love to meet you - we’re so glad you came!

APRIL 2015

God-stories There are weeks when the needs that surround us feel overwhelming. As the Outreach Team makes calls to recruit CityServe projects, I’m reminded of that incredible need. With the sound of desperation, a dear older man left me this tear-filled message:

Outstanding Commitments Name

Community and their Calling.

Church Office: Harvest Fields 201 Harvest Fields Dr., P. O. Box 775 Boalsburg, PA 16827 Church Building: Calvary 1250 1250 University Dr. State College, PA 16801 Downtown “Living Room”: CommonPlace 115 S. Fraser St. commonplacesc.com

“Can you do some yard work for me? I’m disabled with a bad back and I can’t do a lot of work because of my neck. I could also use some painting and fixing inside. If you could call me back, I’d sure appreciate it. If you could let me know, that’d be great. My wife is in a rehab/elderly care facility because she has dementia. It’s getting to the place where her health could go either way. I’d love to get my wife home for a little while so she could get a little bit of happiness before she passes away. But my home needs fixed up. Please help me.” This man heard of CityServe through a promotional card in his Meals on Wheels bag. I’m thankful that he reached out. I’m thankful that a team of Jesus-loving people will enter his home. I’m thankful that his home will be repaired. And, I’m thankful he’ll see living proof of a loving God! During CityServe weekend, April 25 and 26, Calvary will cancel our gatherings

and go into the community to serve – to be the church. During previous years, we’ve completed approximately 120 projects with 850 volunteers. All types of projects have been requested this year – yard work, visiting with folks, minor construction, baking, painting, cleaning and more. More than a project, though, we want to bless people. We want our practical acts of kindness to point people toward Jesus. We want Jesus to be made famous in our community through CityServe! ~ Kendra Gettig, Calvary Outreach Director and a Calvary Midtown family member seeking to live a life without walls. Join us! Check out the list of projects and register to volunteer at sc-cityserve.org. Questions? Contact Kendra at Kendra@ calvarysc.org or 814.238.0822 ext. 20.
