Kids' Night Out This special year we are thrilled to celebrate 175 years at Central. We look back at our church's history and one thing is apparent: no matter the circumstances, God has been and always will remain faithful to us. God blesses us each day, and it is a joy to see his blessings grow within our church community. We are especially overjoyed to see how God has remained faithful within our children's ministry. This year marks the fourth year of Kid's Night Out (KNO). KNO meets once a week on Wednesday evenings in July. We are always hoping that KNO will bless parents by providing an evening away once a week during the summer--in other words, free childcare with dinner, fun, community, and spiritual discipleship. Wednesday nights are the perfect time! KNO also provides an opportunity for both parents and students to get involved in church and to help serve. In the years that we have been doing KNO, we have seen many middle and high school students serve by leading the music and game centers.

A Time of Rest What has truly made KNO special is how God has used this ministry to expand his kingdom. Last year, we had over 90 families participate in KNO throughout July, and we had over 25 refugee kids attend with Harvest volunteers. Having the refugee kids join us each week over the summer has been an amazing experience for everyone. Many of these refugee kids don’t know anything about Jesus or his saving grace. Our CPC kids are learning to reach outward as well as broaden their perspective on Kingdom building. Relationally, several of the Nepali kids have been coming to KNO for three years now and have made summer friends with many of our kids and volunteers. It’s a blessing. As we celebrate this year-long 175th anniversary season, we pray that we continue to see God's faithfulness especially in the lives of our children. To learn more about KNO or to register, visit centralpres.com/ KNO or contact Karen Brown ([email protected]).

God gave us rest because he knew that not only would our bodies need it, so too would our minds. Scripture speaks often of finding rest in the embrace of loving Lord and Savior. We all need rest, and it does not always look the same for everyone. For the next ten weeks, Central's Pastor of Spiritual Formation, Rev. Dr. Mike Farley, will be on sabbatical. The sabbatical is intended to provide ministerial staff who have served for an extended period in our ministry with a gift of time away from normal responsibilities and location to pursue a plan of personal renewal and growth that combines study, travel, rest, education, and research. It is an opportunity for Mike, who has given consistently of his service, to open his heart to the Lord's refilling grace so that he might come to enjoy Him more deeply. This refilling is intended, in part, to lead to deepened resiliency for long-term ministry joy and fruitfulness. Please join us in praying for Pastor Mike as he takes the next several weeks to find rest in the Lord's embrace so that he may continue to bless Central for years to come.

Summer with CCO Central Everywhere you look, there are signs that summer here. Our college students are back home from school, the Cardinals are playing, and the pools are finally open. Whether you are a rising freshman or you just graduated in May, CCO Central (Coalition for Christian Outreach) has great opportunities to get involved with other college students this summer. On Wednesday nights at 6:30pm, we will be studying the book of James, discussing what it means to embody our faith. We will be meeting at Cole Lescher's home, and we will also have dinner together. Another exciting opportunity to get involved with our college ministry is on Saturday mornings at 9am in the Student Center. We will be having a book study on Keep Christianity Weird by Michael Frost. If you are interested in getting plugged into CCO Central this summer, contact Pastor Cole Lescher ([email protected] or 865-228-2769) for more information.
