God created us to be in relationship with each other. He never intended for any of us to live a life alone. That’s why we’re so excited to launch Creed, a six-week churchwide Small Group study! Here’s your chance to grow your faith and become part of a caring, supportive group of Christian friends.

So, what’s stopping you? 1. I’m too busy!

Sharing life with other Christians can help calm your stress levels Left to right: Michelle Smith, Pastor Karl-John and put things in proper Stone, and Jo Sheets perspective. If you put God first, it’s pretty amazing how everything else falls into place. Groups gather once a week for six weeks…not a huge time commitment considering the benefits!

2. I don’t know how to find a Small Group.

Take the initiative to invite a few people you already know to be part of a group and let us know. Or, just come at 6:30pm on Thursdays (for 6 weeks) beginning September 21 and we’ll help you find a table group. We even provide childcare!

3. A group study sounds a little intimidating.

Trust us, groups consist of all levels of faith growth and biblical knowledge. Groups watch a video, then discuss. Sometimes, the conversations veer off into real-life topics and that’s perfectly okay. Just relax and enjoy the company!

Surround yourself with Christian Community and fill out the yellow card in your bulletin today! And, speaking of community, we’ll see you this evening at the Fall Festival from 5–7pm! Where you’ll find free food, free fun, free faith growth and free friendships…what a deal! Have questions about small groups? Contact Michelle Smith at [email protected] or call 402.423.5511.

Hopes for Your Future

III. How can water do such great things? Fall Grief Group

I. What is Baptism?

Baptism is not water only, but it is water used together with God’s Word by his command.

2. My child is such an awesome gift from God—a child is much more than “mine” or “ours.” He is God’s creation, God’s child. 3. I want my child to belong to a community of faith, people who love God and love others. 4. I want to affirm the promise of salvation for my child and nurture in his life a way of life and a hope for the future. 5. I want to make a commitment to raising my child as a Christ follower. I want the support of people of faith as I teach my child to live a life of faith. 6. As my child is marked with the cross of Christ forever through baptism. I want him to be empowered to serve the world in the name of Christ.

II.

It is not water that does these things, but God’s Word with the water and our trust in this Word. Water by itself is only water, but with the word of God it is a life-giving water which by grace gives the new birth through the Holy Spirit.

Promises How can I fulfill these Baptismal Promises? 1. Pray for your child in their presence. 2. Take them to church with you so they will begin to know they are God’s child and part of God’s family. 3. Sing them Christian songs. 4. Tell them how much Jesus loves them. 5. Fold their hands in yours as you pray a simple prayer. 6. Look at simple Bible storybooks, pointing out pictures of Jesus. 7. Point out things that God made. 8. Every night when they go to bed, make the sign of the cross on their forehead and say a blessing. Keep doing this. Ideas for a blessing are:
