We celebrate Easter because Jesus rose from the dead. His death was the supreme payment for our sins, and we now have hope beyond the grave—hope of forgiveness, of a relationship with God, and of eternal life.

Discussion Questions 1. Everybody hopes for something—to graduate, find true love, buy a bigger house, lose some weight. What is your biggest hope these days? Is there anything in your life that feels beyond hope? 2. Read Luke 24:13-35. After his resurrection, Jesus surprised and encouraged two disciples walking on the road to Emmaus. In what ways or situations has Jesus surprised you recently? What happened? 3. By dying and coming back to life, Jesus canceled out our sins so we can be forgiven and experience new life. How has Jesus transformed your life for the better? What has He taught you in the process? 4. God created us for relationships—first with him and then with others. How is your relationship with Christ? Is it growing deeper on a daily basis, or is it stagnant and needing some attention? What other relationships in your life build you up and encourage you?

Challenge In the coming weeks, commit to growing in your relationship with Christ—whether that’s through daily quiet time with God, joining a small group, or starting to serve. Through journaling or sharing with others, make note of what God is teaching you in the process.
