In-store ideas

2. Pin the Tail on Pig Materials needed: photocopied picture of Pig, construction paper or yarn (for the tails), blindfold, tape, scissors

1. Color Party Hats Distribute the enclosed party hats to the party guests and have them color in the pictures of Pig and her friends with the mini markers supplied. 2. Pass the Present Materials needed: gift wrap (multiple sheets of varying colors and textures), tape, scissors, prize of your choice Before you begin, wrap a present several times with different colors and textures of gift wrap. Gather your party guests in a circle and give one child the wrapped present. Play music and have the guests pass the present around the circle. When the music stops, the child holding the present removes a layer of wrapping paper and passes it on. The child who unwraps the last layer of the present then shares the prize with the group. 3. Good Guess

A simple variation of the classic party game. All you need is your favorite picture of Pig, some pig tails, a blindfold, and some good luck. Affix the picture of Pig to a wall, hand each party guest a tail, and have the participants take turns to try to pin the tail to the picture while blindfolded. Remember to use tape instead of pins as a safety precaution. 3. Party Puppets Materials needed: scissors, glue or tape, Popsicle sticks, mini markers Every party needs some entertainment! Color and cut out the characters of Pig and her friends. Glue them or attach them with tape to Popsicle sticks for perfect paper puppets. Then turn a table on its side, drape a sheet across the front for dramatic effect, and you’ve got a mini stage for the puppet show. Act out your favorite scenes from the book with the puppets or make up new situations!

Fill a jar with jelly beans, and another with dried macaroni, or even cotton balls, and ask your guests, “How many jelly beans do you think are in the jar?” Award a prize to the person who has the closest guess for each item.

At-home ideas Caution: Ask your parents for help when using scissors. 1. Balloon Animals Materials needed: balloons, stickers, markers, tape, yarn, construction paper (for feet or shoes), hole punch Turn a simple balloon into a pig, mouse, moose, or imaginary creature. Inflate the balloon and decorate it with stickers, markers, yarn, construction paper, or any other craft material you might have on hand. You can affix ears, arms, and a tail to the balloon with tape or make feet and shoes. Make a small hole in each foot or shoe to stick the balloon knot through.
