Do you enjoy reading books? Why or why not? Why do you think God has chosen to communicate to us through a book? (List as many reasons as you can think of.) Read Matthew 7:24-29. How did Jesus’ teaching differ from that of the religious leaders of his day (v.29)? How would you define the word “authority”? The final authority for many people is themselves. They just follow their heart. Why is this a bad idea? Describe a time when following your heart got you in trouble. Why read the Bible every day? What obstacle(s) gets in the way of you doing this--and how might you overcome it? What did the wise and foolish builders do alike? What did they do differently (i.e. how does building on rock differ from building on sand)? Read James 1:22-25. How is reading the Bible without putting it into practice like looking at yourself in a mirror? What are some of the storms that people face in life? How would daily Bible reading AND putting what you read into practice prepare you for a future storm? Why would regular exposure to the Bible WITHOUT putting it into practice NOT prepare you for a future storm? What steps would you need to take to engage in Bible Every Day? What would be the benefits of doing this with others (family, friends or a Community Group)?
