Cyclone Pam. The team, comprising of medical, security and logistics specialists, has arrived 16 Mar to assess the medical and security risks and evacuation options for expatriates and travellers in Vanuatu. Two medical teams have been deployed: one is working at Vila Central Hospital in Port Vila, the other has opened at clinic at Mauna Health Post on Pentecost Island. Following a request from Gamalmaua, the medical team visited a health post and investigated medical needs there. The DHN was activated by the UNOCHA. Humanitarian Open Streetmap, Humanity Road, Peace Geeks, the Standby Task Force, and GISCorps have worked to build situational datasets, identify pictures and videos of damage and flooding, and assist with operational information sharing to help responders gain a clearer picture of the response.
The purpose of the Digital Humanitarian Network (DHNetwork) is to leverage digital networks in support of 21st century humanitarian response.
