Successfully Connecting Business and Community for 2016 January is always an exciting time personally and professionally. After enjoying a wonderful holiday season we are ready to get restarted, rebooted and reenergized to move forward successfully. In the last few months of 2015, Evergreen saw the opening of many new businesses. Other local establishments changed ownership or remodeled their look and layout-all to provide customers with new experiences. Talk about positive economic growth! Congratulations to all.

The title of my article is “Successfully Connecting Business and Community” but what does that mean? The mission of the Evergreen Chamber is to “Build a Better Evergreen”, what does that mean? The two statements are intertwined as we represent and support our local businesses. It is our job to make the community aware of what is offered locally, how to contact owners and what is happening in terms of events that support our quality of life. We encourage you to stay positive and upbeat and support your local businesses. Many of you have visited new places this fall, maybe you had a great experience, maybe you did not. Growing pains happen, especially when you are working to handle a flood of customers while trying to iron out the kinks. January and February are the months when things settle down and get into a groove.

We at the Chamber suggest you give our new businesses and our long standing businesses a try. They depend on sales from locals and visitors alike to succeed. Typically these are the slowest months for tourism. Stores and restaurants need our local muscle to perfect their offerings and customer service. Our message is stay positive and offer repeat visits. The Vincents have breathed new life into the historic El Rancho Colorado! After being closed for three years because of flood damage, Bob Vincent and his wife have renovated the building and reopened it in November as The El Rancho Brewing Company. El Rancho Brewing Company features Chef, Thomas Vincent and Head Brewer, Bard Nielsen. This newly opened micro-brewery has been welcomed by the community with open arms and empty beer glasses needing to be filled!
