18 June 2014 Dear Neighbour Public Information Session St Paul’s Church, Stoke Road, Slough, SL2 5AS – 1 July 2014 Network Rail is undertaking works in your area on behalf of Crossrail, the new railway linking Reading and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, via new tunnels under central London. When Crossrail becomes operational in 2019 it will deliver faster, cleaner and quieter journeys across London. For Crossrail to deliver these services it is necessary for us to electrify the line through Slough. In order to provide the necessary clearance for the overhead lines, Stoke Poges Lane bridge needs to be replaced. This will involve closing the bridge from the end of November 2014, reopening the road in April 2015. Between November and April, traffic wishing to cross the railway will be redirected to use Farnham Road or Stoke Road and William Street. Pedestrians will be directed along Baylis Road and through Salt Hill Park. We appreciate that some residents may have concerns or questions about the work we will be delivering throughout this period so we will be holding a public drop-in session on Tuesday 1 July 2014 from 15:00 – 19:00 at St Paul’s Church, Stoke Road, Slough, SL2 5AS. This event will provide you with the chance to learn more about the work we will be carrying out near you and about the wider Crossrail programme. We look forward to seeing you there. However, if you have any queries in advance of the meeting, please feel free to contact us via our 24-hour helpline on 08457 11 41 41 or via email at [email protected]. Yours sincerely
