Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 2 Timothy 4:2 Mike Avery Youth & Family Minister

School is out and summer is here! This means a change in season for our kids, parents, teachers, and youth and children’s ministers. Instead of being in school, kids will be traveling to camps and mission trips, going on vacation with their families, and spending a lot more time at home with mom and dad.

It is a great time for teaching our kids to follow Jesus. In fact, many of our children and youth along with several adults are not here today because they are at Journeyland elementary camp or our youth mission trip to McAllen. There are different ideas about what “in season and out of season” means in the above Scripture. Some say that it refers to times when we can freely share the good news as opposed to times when it is difficult and dangerous to share it. Others say that “in season” refers to people who are receptive to the Gospel and “out of season” refers to non-receptive people. Regardless, the point Paul is trying to make here is that we should always make the most of every opportunity to share the gospel with others (Colossians 4:5-6). So, whether you are on a mission trip in a foreign country or spending a day at home, pray for opportunities to share the love, truth, and grace of Jesus with others. Pray for those who do not know Jesus, that they may give their lives to Him forever. Some will be receptive to the message and others will reject it, but either way we must share it. I am praying for you daily, asking God to bless you as you walk with Him daily.

UPCOMING EVENTS The elders have presented Tom Messick as a potential elder. If you have concerns about him serving, please contact one of our current elders before June 16.
