Chamber Quarterly Business Luncheon Learn what is happening in Austin and how it is affecting our local businesses. On May 22, 2015 at 11:30am at the Holiday Hills Country Club, the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Luncheon with the Texas Association of Business (TAB), the state’s Chamber. The guest speaker will be the President of TAB, Chris Wallace, IOM, CCE. In this role, he oversees TAB’s operations including membership, administration and chamber relations. He is among only 520 executives in the nation who have earned their CCE (Certified Chamber Executive) designation. Wallace has experience in economic development marketing, strategic planning, and public relations including management in both the public and private sectors. He has played an active role in several local and state political campaigns. Wallace is an advocate of strong civic engagement through his involvement with numerous social service, education, arts and municipal-related boards/ commissions. City Council Candidate Forum The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Candidate Forum on Thursday, April 23 at Mineral Wells High School. Moderator David May asked questions related to topics ranging from current drought conditions and water supply to downtown redevelopment and business growth. Other topics discussed were smoking bans in public facilities, tourism, improvements to emergency services, and communication between the council and constituents. Candidates were also given the opportunity to share their platforms. Thank you to the candidates who took part in the Forum: Clif Wright, Bill Terry, Heath Farmer, Brian Reagan and Wayne Johnson. Kevin Harrison and Karium Carter were not in attendance. Early voting is April 27-May 5. Election Day will be May 9. All ballots will be cast at the Palo Pinto County Annex. Make your voice heard. Your vote matters!
