Pathways and Work Experience Advisor Fulltime Fixed-term Contract to 30 December 2015 Navitas English is part of a diversified global education provider, Navitas, that offers an extensive range of educational and settlement services for students and professionals including university programs, language training, workforce education and student recruitment. The Navitas English division provides English language training for international students, migrants and humanitarian entrants, settlement services and teacher training. The Role The primary responsibilities of the Pathways and Work Experience Advisor are as follows:       

Locate and maintain work experience placements for AMEP eligible migrant and refugee clients Establish and maintain relationships with employing organisations, individuals and enterprises Oversee the clients while in work experience Respond to client and employer enquiries and feedback Assist clients with resumes, cover letters, goal clarification and general job seeking skills Conduct one on one and group sessions on employability Carry out administration functions related to the role

Essential requirements          

Ability to plan and facilitate individual programs assisting the clients to achieve immediate and long term career goals Experience in assisting clients with job seeking skills e.g. writing resumes, cover letters and the application process as well as providing further study options Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently and manage competing priorities Good verbal and written communication skills Good computer skills Ability to promote work experience opportunities to employers Experience referring clients to employers Ability to market clients to prospective employers Demonstrated ability in achieving employment outcomes for clients Excellent organisational and time management skills

Desirable  Knowledge of employment, VET, RTO’s and trade levels to achieve client outcomes  Demonstrated experience in working and understanding the AMEP and SEE programs Terms of employment Full time fixed-term contract to 30 December 2015, with the possibility of an extension depending on business levels and performance. Providing individual and group advice to EFS Program clients and assisting with resume writing and general Employability Skills. Provision of work experience placements for EFS clients

1. Overview and Objectives of the Position The Pathways and Work Experience Advisor is responsible for the highest standard of services to clients participating in an EFS Employment focused course by: • • • • •

Providing individual employment and further study advice to all Pathways to Work Programs Conducting work preparation sessions to Pathways to Work classes Assisting clients with job seeking skills such as resume writing, job interview skills and job applications Assisting EFS college staff at colleges to promote, plan and implement Employment focused Programs Liaise with Job Services Australia Providers, Centrelink, industry representatives, SEE, vocational and tertiary education providers to identify pathway opportunities, provide clients with information and referral to relevant agencies Sourcing suitable work experience placements for individuals Promptly and appropriately dealing with client enquiries Processing of client documentation Overseeing clients at the workplace Handling client grievances and escalating to EFS management if required Documenting feedback from clients Source suitable employment or further study opportunities using a range of employment search resources such as newspapers, online publications such as “My Career, Seek, Job Search, JSA etc”.

3. Ensures the highest standard of services to organisations and enterprises providing work experience placements by:   

promptly and appropriately dealing with telephone and face to face enquiries as required providing up-to-date, accurate and relevant information to employers on Professional and English Programs and the clients involved in the program dealing efficiently and courteously with all enquiries and requests



supporting clients in the workplaces so that both clients and employers are involved in a satisfying and beneficial working arrangement

4. Contributes to the highest standard of administrative support by:  

maintaining client records maintaining data base

5. Contributes to the highest standard of professional staff by:  

participating in and contributing to professional development programs implementing and modelling high standards of work performance

6. Contributes to the professional standing of Professional and English Programs as a centre of excellence by:   

developing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and employers ensuring quality and appropriateness of information and promotional materials corresponding and liaising closely with appropriate bodies

7. Contributes to the most effective and efficient management of resources by:    

liaising on delegated maintenance matters with relevant staff and external personnel maintaining appropriate manual and computerised records and data bases actively participating in effective communication practices providing effective word processing and data entry skills

8. Contributes to the growth and profitability of Professional and English Programs by: 

actively promoting Professional and English Programs’ and services to potential clients and employers

9. Contributes to the maintenance of client privacy by:   

ensuring privacy regulations are understood and implemented ensuring client records and personal information are stored securely according to Professional and English Programs’ privacy policy cooperating with other Professional and English Programs staff and external agencies in a way which ensures Professional and English Programs complies with privacy regulations

10. Contributes to the maintenance of a safe working environment by:   

taking reasonable care for the health and safety of staff and clients at Professional and English Programs cooperating as far as needed to enable Professional and English Programs to comply with regulations involving health, safety and welfare ensuring clients are placed in organisations and enterprises with safe working environments
