Psalm 91 – Healing Promises by Gail King

Psalm 91 Healing Promises Psalm 91 is a beloved Psalm that many men and women know by heart and recite daily. Most of us think of it as the prayer for protection, but it is much more. Meditate on this powerful scripture and mix what God is saying with faith. I find it calming and healing to the mind, emotions and nervous system. This awesome prayer gives us enormous insight into the promises of God and tells us exactly what God desires of us. Three elements of the prayer are 1) His actual promises, 2) a revelation of God’s identity and 3) the identity of the believer. In Psalm 91, God tells us exactly how He desires for believers to think and behave toward Him. Let’s review His awesome promises! Psalm 91 – God’s Promises 1) We will find rest in His shadow. We will find rest knowing we can steadfastly trust in him. 2) He will rescue us from every trap – not some traps – every trap! 3) He will protect us from deadly disease. 4) He will cover us. He will protect us from every adversity. 5) He will shelter us. He will not let danger reach us. 6) Believing His Biblical promises are actually a type of amour and protection from every adversity. 7) No matter what evil we see in the world, it will not touch us. 8) No evil will ever conquer us. 9) No plague or disease can come near our homes. 10) He will order angels to protect us wherever we go. 11) His will order angels to physically hold us up so we that we don’t get hurt or even stump our toe! 12) He empowers us to trample on Satan and his demons; we crush mighty foes under our feet! 13) He will rescue us because we lovingly hold tightly to Him. 14) He will protect us when we trust in His name. 15) When we call on Him, He will answer. 16) He will be with us in all trouble. 17) He promises (two times) to rescue us! Rescue is promised in verse 3 and in verse 15. 18) He will honor us. 19) He will reward us with a long life. 20) He has given us His salvation. Psalm 91 – Keys To God’s Identity 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7)

He is the Most High God. He is Almighty God. He is THE LORD. He is our Refuge. He is our place of safety. He is our God. He is Faithful and His promises are faithful, they can be trusted. Psalm 91 – The Believers Identity & Heart Toward God

1) We live in His shelter. He always abides in our thoughts. 2) He alone is our refuge and our place of safety. We come to Him first in every adversity and we know that He will deliver us. 3) We trust Him. We don’t waver in our expectation that He will deliver us. Our trust is very important to God. 4) We are not afraid. 5) We do not dread (or fear) catching diseases. 6) We do not live in terror. 7) We fear no arrows, accusations, adversity or attack. 8) No matter what we see happening in the world, we are confident that it will not touch us. 9) We make the LORD our refuge and our hiding place. Our thoughts are centered on Him and His promises to deliver us. 10) We make the Most High our shelter and our trustworthy security. 11) We love Him. 12) We trust in His Holy Name. 13) When adversity strikes, we call on Him. Whenever we find ourselves becoming fearful or facing any adversity, we can recite this prayer daily, or as often as needed. Keep a spare copy in a convenient location. Psalm 91 – Healing Promises by Gail King

2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. 6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. 7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. 8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. 9 If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, 10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. 11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. 13 You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14 The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” Gail King Ministries Thank you for your generous contributions. P.O. Psalm 91 – Healing Promises by Gail King

Summary I’ve studied the long list of God’s promises in amazement! He is basically saying that if we can come to Him first, lovingly hold close to Him, tell Him what we need and trust steadfastly in Him, He will protect us from every threat in life! It says we will see calamity in the world, but He will always deliver us. Jesus Christ said this: Matthew 11:28, NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Prayer of Faith “Father God, I thank you for your promises! I make Jesus Christ the Lord of my life and I know that He rose from the dead. I know He is sitting at your right hand watching over me. Thank you for your awesome promises. I believe them and receive them by faith. I love you Father and I trust in Jesus and your Holy Spirit. I give you glory for who you are, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.” Bible Study Questions For Reflection 1) Do you go to God first (in prayer) when you face an adversity or have to make a tuff decision. Do you ask Him what you should do before you ask your friends and family? 2) When you pray, do you give God a few minutes to answer your questions? 3) Do you know and believe that God speaks to you? Suggestions For Powerful Christian Living 1) Keep a prayer journal. White down everything you’ve asked God for and cross items off the list as your prayers are answered. 2) In your prayer journal, make a separate section called Revelations From God where you can write down everything God tells you during your prayer time. 3) If you don’t already pray in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, find a believer who prays in tongues and ask them to explain it to you and lay hands on you to receive this gift of the Holy Spirit. Buy pamphlets from the Christian bookstore on Speaking In Tongues so that you fully understand this powerful gift to believers. In faith, reach out for everything God has promised you as a believer.
