The Professional and English Programs Division (PEP) is Australia’s largest ELICOS provider, delivering courses to more than 8,000 students annually through eight mainland centres, with partner operations in Oman and Singapore. The Senior Teacher has educational management responsibilities including professional development, academic administration, resources coordination, teacher support and student counselling. She/he will work together with the existing educational management team to ensure successful delivery of the high quality education services Navitas students expect.

1. Accountabilities Senior Teacher tasks are set by and may vary at the absolute discretion of the CM-DoS. They will be selected from but are not limited to the following:                             

Provision of day-to-day direction and support for teachers Assisting CM-DoS with the induction of new teachers Regular monitoring, in liaison with the CM-DoS, of teachers’ non-teaching tasks Materials and curriculum development in conjunction with the CM-DoS Coordination and delivery of the staff professional development and observation programs Overseeing teaching resources Assisting with the organisation and implementation of Day Ones Setting and adjusting Self-Access schedules Standby teaching, when necessary, and assisting in the preparation of lesson material for standby teachers Internal marketing of non-GE courses (IELTS, EAP, Business English, Cambridge exams) Maintenance of English Only policy with staff and students Other projects as directed by the CM-DoS Standing in for CM-DoS in her/his absence Ensuring that all teachers’ course administration records are checked Ensuring that all academic records are in compliance with the National Code Ensuring that materials used and presented by teachers are correctly sourced, have the college logo and are professionally presented Maintenance of eBECAS database and other student and staff management tools Management of coursebook ordering systems Administration associated with IELTS, Cambridge and other exams Course pathway, general academic, attendance and further education counselling Management of level / course change requests in conjunction with the CM-DoS Counselling of prospective Cambridge students Marking qualifying tests and liaising with CM-DoS / agents re students’ suitability for Cambridge courses Keeping records of qualifying tests and liaising with CM-DoS re numbers for Cambridge courses Maintenance of Cambridge coursebooks and other resources Preparation for and assistance with Cambridge Day One in liaison with CM-DoS Responsibility for student enrolments in Cambridge exams and liaison with Cambridge ESOL Local Secretary Organising and running Cambridge professional development / meetings in conjunction with CM-DoS Regular liaison with Cambridge teachers re materials, individual student progress and any other Cambridge related issues

 

0-20 hours per week teaching load, including standby as necessary Day-to-day liaison and communication with students, clients, and other stakeholders utilising a range of authorised communication channels, including official social media sites, in accordance with company policy

2. Compliance Contributes to the maintenance of client privacy by:   

Ensuring privacy regulations are understood and implemented Ensuring client records and personal information are stored securely according to Divisional privacy policy Cooperating with other ELICOS staff and external agencies in a way which ensures compliance with privacy regulations

Contributes to the maintenance of a safe working environment, within their area of operations, by:  

Maintaining local workplaces that are safe and without risk to health; Ensuring relevant occupational health and safety regulations are complied with at local workplaces.
