III. Jesus’ followers remembered together. And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19

The Upper Room and Passover Luke 22:7-8 Matthew 26:17-30 John 13-17 “And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.” John 17:11

How do we become “one”? I. Jesus’ followers worked together. Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.” Luke 22:7-8

II. Jesus’ followers ate together. And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. Luke 22:14

The meaning of the Passover meal: A. Why the bitter herbs? to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. Isaiah 42:7

B. Why the unleavened bread? For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15

C. B. Participation . . . “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.”

C. Examination Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 1 Corinthians 11:28

D. Proclaimation For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:26

IV. Jesus’ followers grieved together. And as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, “Is it I, Lord?” Matthew 26:21-22

V. Jesus’ followers resolved conflict together. A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. Luke 22:24

VI. Jesus’ followers sang together. And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Matthew 26:30
