This service is for those who desire special prayers for healing physically, emotionally, or relationally, and those who are grieving or those who are praying for others. This service will offer a time of music, prayer, reflection and hope. Time will be provided to invite those who desire, to come up for anointing. If your loved one is unable to attend, you are welcome to offer prayers for them.

Relational Health Transformation Last year my former employer falsely accused me of a financialrelated crime. I was handcuffed and my fingerprints were taken. After 12 hours in jail, I thought the worst was over. I called my wife to tell her that I was ready to be picked up. She started crying. My arrest and alleged crime was all over the news and our daughters saw my mug shot on TV. I am on the introverted side. I do not do social media. Even positive attention can cause me to feel uncomfortable. I struggled mightily after my arrest. I felt alone, vulnerable, exposed. I grappled with many questions: Would people assume I was guilty? Would friends pull away? Had I shamed my family and my name? Would kids tease my daughters? Would the parents of our daughters’ friends no longer allow their children to go to our house? I didn’t want to go out in public. I didn’t even want to go to church. It was very difficult to go up for communion. After a four day trial, I was found not guilty. I am still healing from this experience. I would not be where I am today if not for my faith, family, and friends. I’ve learned I am nothing without relationships. I have learned that I have people in my life who will be there for me in my time of need. I am incredibly blessed. I thank my wife for everything. She nurtured me when I was down, and she challenged me when I felt sorry for myself. I thank my Southwood family for the prayers that sustained us. And, I am so grateful to this group of guys who provided unconditional support: Erik Robart, Adam McCarville, Todd Spellman, Brandt Vlieger, John Ball, Matt Rice, and Pastor Michael. Lastly, I thank God for the most important relationship of all.

Caring 3 Tips for Everyday

TRANSFORMED Part 5 of 6

Relational Health Transformation God wants us to be in relationship with Him and with others. He has surrounded us with people in our lives so we can enjoy this community of faith. Use this week to grow deeper in relationship with God and support someone else with these tips: ff Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while to let them know you care. Choose someone new each week and renew old friendships. ff Go to lunch with a co-worker. ff Set one night a week to have family game night. Rotate who plans the activities and spend time enjoying each other. Be sure there is laughter!

Tuesdays, November 8–February 28, 7–8 p.m., Group Room • C.S. Lewis, the beloved author of The Chronicles of Narnia, entwined his storytelling and his Christian faith in the classic The Screwtape Letters. This collection presents the correspondence of Screwtape, a senior tempter, and Wormwood, his apprentice demon, as they plot how to twist the life of a gullible Christian to his damnation. Lewis explores doubt, temptation, faith, and Christ’s triumph through these approachable, insightful, and wryly humorous letters. A group will gather, read this book aloud, and discuss it. Contact David Frye, the group’s leader, at 402.450.2072 or [email protected], with questions and to sign up.
