Living the Story: Ruth

06/18/17

Much Ado About Nothing (Ruth 3)–Sometimes the gift of God comes in the form of an unexpected, maybe even unusual, opportunity. In Ruth 3, both Naomi and Boaz recognize such opportunities. Ruth was simply left in the middle of an elaborate scheme as Naomi elected to take a chance on Boaz, and as Boaz eventually took a chance on Ruth. Opportunities to invest in the lives of others come around all the time, and some of those occasions are chances to make a life-changing difference. But if we don’t align our thinking toward this purpose, and allow ourselves to be interrupted, we may never realize that God’s gift of influence and legacy has crossed our path

Invocation Worship the Great I Am 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)

Preschool Family Missions—Are you searching for practical ways to serve others this summer with the whole family? Join us in June, July, and August for Ready Set GO! - Preschool family mission projects. For the month of June, we will collect nonperishable food for Clear Lake Food Pantry. Donation boxes will be posted at the Chapel, reception and Preschool. Food will be delivered by KJOY-ers the following week. Food Collection is June 18–24th. Kingdom Care (paid childcare) has part-time positions available. Hours are flexible and include Wednesdays and special events. Experience is preferred but not required. For more information or to apply, email [email protected] or call 281.488.8517 x313. Worship Pastor Search Update—Our search for a new UBC Worship Pastor is moving steadily along. We have placed ads with Baptist associations, newspapers, seminaries and schools with music programs across the south. The requirements include experience in a large church setting, master’s degree in a music related field, and conducting experience. Approximately 60 resumes have been received, questionnaires were sent to six of the top candidates and three will be selected for interviews. Timing is always difficult to predict but we anticipate having the process completed by late fall. International Exchange Student Program—Is there room at your home and in your heart for one more? Host families for foreign exchange high school students are needed for this summer and next school year. Visit CCI Greenheart at cci-exchange.com/host-families, email Carrie Gilder ([email protected]), or stop by our table in the Fellowship Hall.
