Early Childhood Director We are looking for an outstanding Early Childhood Director to lead both Lovell Weekday Ministry (LWM) and our Early Childhood Ministry (infant–Pre-K) at First Baptist Church of Conway, SC. LWM is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Conway, SC which is a licensed South Carolina Child Development Center serving the community of Conway, SC. We have classes that range from infants to preK, along with an after school program and great summer programs. The Child Development Center cares and educates over 100 children and employees 27 educators and support staff. The vision of LWM is to be the premier Christian Child Development Center in Conway, South Carolina. The goal of the Child Development Center is to provide experiences for preschoolers that carry out our church’s mission of reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ and teaching them to follow Him. While also providing an environment where each child can develop his or her physical, emotional, mental and social capabilities to his or her full potential, with an emphasis on cognitive development and communication skills. The Director will lead LWM in operating the center and foster Staff development. Along with leading LWM, the Director will have responsibilities on Sunday mornings to coordinate, train, and lead volunteers for our Early Childhood Ministry. Therefore, the director must be a Christian and be willing to teach Biblical material to children. The Director reports to the Pastor. Basic Duties and Responsibilities: • As the LWM Director—Plan, organize, direct, manage, and supervise programs for preschoolage children and facilitate positive relations and communication among LMW Staff, parents, volunteers, and the Church Congregation. Strategically think through how to integrate Lovell Weekday Ministry children into the programs and life of First Baptist Church. • As the Church Early Childhood Director (infant–Pre-K)—In ordination with our Next Generation Pastor, plan, organize, direct, manage, and supervise programs for our Early Childhood programs on Sunday mornings and other events as needed. • This position requires strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills along with a warm and nurturing disposition. Must be able to work positively within a parent-participation

school environment and promote an atmosphere of community and cooperation among all interested parties. • Any other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor. Program Development: • Maintain develop or modify curriculum to meet the needs of children enrolled at LWM and remain current with developments in the field. Develop long term plans to facilitate the growth of the Preschool. • In conjunction with the Lovell Team (Church committee), suggest policies of admission, attendance, tuition, and educational goals and suggest all other necessary policies and procedures or rules pertaining to the operation of the Child Development Center. Staff supervision/Employee Relations: • Have knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum, interactions and environments. • Oversee and assist the LWM Staff in administering, planning and evaluating activities and lesson plans that promote developmentally-appropriate learning. • Train and supervise the LWM Staff by holding regular meetings, mediating minor disagreements, and assisting in the classroom when necessary. • Plan, organize, coordinate, and promote professional development, training, and staff meetings. • Regularly monitor staff performance and provide coaching or mentoring for performance improvement and development. Provide day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure high performance and to promote a positive employee relations environment. • Conduct LWM Staff performance evaluations for submission to the Admin Team. • Arrange for substitute help for the LWM Staff (and serve as a substitute as needed). • Coordinate recruitment and assist in hiring to fill LWM Staff vacancies and make hiring recommendations to Administration team. Administration • Primary responsibility for handling day-to-day administration of the Child Development Center including determination of all schedules, assignment of LWM Staff responsibilities, and utilization of office/classroom space and resources. • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements of the Department of Social Services and all other applicable county, state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact with all governmental and regulatory bodies in connection with LWM.

• Plan and implement health and safety programs including universal health precautions, emergency procedures, and facility and equipment safety. • Manage all aspects of student admissions. • Keep and maintain full and complete records pertaining to the administration and operation of the Child Development Center. • Plan and monitor food service. Fiscal Responsibilities • Work with the Lovell Team to prepare an annual budget for approval by the pastor, deacons and Church Congregation. • Responsible for operation of the Child Development Center pursuant to an approved budget, including collection of enrollment fees and tuition, purchase of routine equipment and supplies, and handling of routine banking transactions in accordance with established Church financial policies and procedures. Communication and Leadership • Develop a strong rapport with the Church, the Pastor, the Church Staff (and Church Committees, as applicable) by attending planned and ad hoc meetings (as required), presenting monthly reports to the Pastor on Child Development Center operations (to include budgetary information), and responding to requests for information in a timely manner. • Communicate effectively with LWM parents and staff, prospective families, and the Church Congregation in order to promote understanding and support of the LWM ministry. Encourage feedback regarding LWM programs and activities. Educational Requirements • Have a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from a state-approved college or university in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or a related field that includes at least eighteen credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education. OR • Have a bachelor’s degree from a state-approved college or university in any subject area, six months experience working with children in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility. OR • Have an associate degree from a state-approved college or university in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or a related field, that includes at least

eighteen credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education with six months’ work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility. Qualifications • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing, personal relationship with Him. • A commitment to the mission and vision of First Baptist Church. • Meet the qualifications of becoming a member of a Baptist Church (baptized by immersion after a public testimony of faith). State Requirements • Current SLED fingerprint review • Current TB results • Current pediatric first-aid/CPR • Current blood-born pathogens training (OSHA) • Current Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect Check • At least 21 years old • At least one-year supervising childcare staff • Must participate in at least 20 clock hours of training annually
