EASTER BASKET COOKIES

Ingredients 1/3 cup shortening 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp vanilla 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour 1/4 Cup shredded coconut Green food dye Twizzlers and jelly beans

! Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy using a hand mixer. Add the eggs, vanilla and salt and mix until combined. Slowly sift the flour into the bowl and continue mixing until fully combined. Roll into 1 inch balls and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet Using your thumb, press the center of each cookie in to make a basket indentation Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. Check at 10 minutes to prevent burning. Once removed from the oven, quickly and carefully press the indentations of each cookie back down to form a well for the basket fillings. Using a stick (we used a cookie pop stick), make 2 holes in each cookie across from each other to insert twizzler pieces for a basket handle. Cool completely. In a small ziplock bag, add coconut and drops of green food dye. Shake and add dye until coconut is green. Decorate cookies with twizzlers, coconut and jelly beans for a fun easter treat!!
