Summary:

Relationship Manager The Relationship Manager (RM) evaluates and recommends approval of commercial loans to the Executive Director of Northern Ohio and loan review committee. In many instances, the Relationship Manager will provide technical assistance to applicants while reviewing the application materials and backup documentation as well as helping the credit analyst prepare the credit memorandum. This is completed by gathering and synthesizing information pertinent to approving and funding a commercial loan application such as business plans, financial statements, credit data, etc. The RM in conjunction with the underwriter will be responsible for preparing a report summarizing the request or need for credit, feasibility and viability of success of the business, capacity to repay the loan, the degree of risk involved in extending the loan, and a recommendation. When a loan is approved, RMs will prepare and deliver a commitment letter to the applicant. Upon receipt of the signed commitment letter and any requested documentation from the applicant the RM will package the loan documents per the per loan closing checklist and provide to the Executive Director of Northern Ohio for review. Upon receipt of checks from fiscal department, loan documents will be prepared by ECDI staff and a loan closing scheduled. The RM will close the loan with the borrower. The RM will be responsible for completing post loan servicing requests from their client, providing technical assistance on an ongoing basis. This will include all ECDI and Women’s Business Center clients. The RM will provide the Executive Director of Northern Ohio, executive management, and the loan review committee with reports about pre-loan and post loan activities when required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interview and screen prospective loan applicants to determine if minimal loan qualification standards are met. Develop and maintain referral sources for prospective small businesses located within the client communities and in need of financing.



Provide technical assistance - assist new and existing customers with start-up/expansion plan review, financial analysis and projections, and other business development needs.



Gather data necessary to complete application package and source documents for credit analysis of all qualified applicants. Structure financing packages to match potential borrower needs using in matching sources and uses of funds as well as repayment terms. Prepare and present loan reports to the Executive Director of Northern Ohio, and loan review committee. Negotiate any remaining loan structuring elements and issue commitment letters. Prepare loan package for funding Close loans.

Assist in portfolio management with servicing issues and borrower relationships during the entire life of the loan, including but not limited to collections, modifications of collateral, site visits, and annual reviews. Case note and data entry into Down Home Loan system – pre and post loan tracking, technical assistance provided, collections, other notes about client relationship etc. Assist in the preparation of reports about pre and post loan activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. o Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Comprehensive knowledge of standard commercial lending practices, procedures, and techniques; knowledge and experience with economic development finance program and products (SBA Microloans, CDBG, other) - revolving loans preferred o Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics or related fields AND at least three (3) + years commercial lending experience in a customer contact capacity including analysis, underwriting, and processing loans along with the ability to cross-sell additional valueadded products and services. Prior business ownership or management is a plus. § Five (5) years of work experience in a commercial or retail lending field may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree § Work experience must include credit analysis functions o

Computer Skills - Experience with and knowledge of computer operation; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Must be able to learn and use DownHome Loan Manager system

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Certified Economic Development Finance Professional designation preferred, Valid Ohio driver's license required within 60 days of hire Special Requirements – Occasional after hours work and travel required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
