which we hope will nialre your journal more readable and useful. The technical section, for example, features larger type and a threecolumn format instead of tn-o. These changes permit greater flexibility in making tables and text more readable. These improvements are not being made a t the expense of decreasing the number of papers published. Closely tied in with the technical papers is the new “Briefs” section. which presents concise interpretative summaries of the technical papers. These are in addition to the abstracts which accompany each technical article. The Briefs, prepared by a practicing analyst, are intended to give the busy reader a quick survey of the technical papers. The Briefs are designed so thai they can be cut out and filed on cards. Our advisory board felt that this innovation would be a time saver for our readers. The contents page has been e.;panded to give the reader more details as to the features of the issue in a more readable form. The Analyst’s Calendar, n-e feel. is a useful guide to meetings of an analytical nature and the analytical phases of more general meetings. JTe have expanded our calendar to give more detailed information concerning these programs. The Report for -1nalysts feature will continue to highlight topics of current general interest or to review certain timely topics. The Laboratory of the Month is being expanded a little to allow more detailed presentation and larger photograph?. The hnalyst’s Column n-hich presents the editor’s views on significant new developments, and the Instrumentation Column, with its authoritative views on n w trends in instrumentation, are being continued. The sections devoted to nen- products, new chemicals, and manufacturers’ literature will keep readers posted on developments i n these areas. The Ken-s Section will endeavor to keep our readers informed of current events and trends of analytical interest. These changes have all been made after much serious thought and with the support of our advisory board and other interested persons. \$-e trust that this issue will prove to be representative. As always, we welcome your commentb and suggestions.
