Christ Jam Middle School Youth Gathering (for Grades 6 - 8) Save the date!! Christ Jam is the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin’s middle school youth gathering on Saturday, March 10 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. For the fifth year in a row it is at Bethany!! It is a wonderful event filled with an awesome speaker, band, workshops and fun. We strongly encourage all of our HWS youth to attend. More specific details will be out at the beginning of February. On Sunday, February 5, 2017, millions of people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl football game. There were parties abundant with food, friendship and fellowship. At the same time, there were people worrying about staying warm, finding shelter and a warm meal. Young people around the country demonstrated God’s love by helping their neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring. We will be doing this again this year. On February 3-4, middle and high school students will be collecting donations of money and non-perishable food items for the We Share Food Pantry. Thank you for helping to support our community!
2018 Houston Youth Gathering Our group of 44 (36 youth and 8 adults) are super excited to embark on a journey to Houston, TX in June 2018 for the ELCA Youth Gathering. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our youth to come together with other ELCA youth from all over the country to build on their faith journey. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. We are in the planning stages and look forward to learning more about Houston through our Bible studies.
How Can You Help Us Get to Houston? Sending 44 people to Houston is a huge undertaking, but we are up for the challenge! We are about half way to the $60,000+ we need. We will be hosting a variety of fundraisers throughout the spring. There are opportunities for everyone. Kwik Trip Cards - We purchase Kwik Trip Gift cards at a 5% discount. You Shrove Tuesday buy the cards at face value. The cards Pancake Supper can be used for fuel, groceries and more February 13 at Kwik Trip. For non-fuel, alcohol or Serving 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. tobacco purchases, Bethany earns an additional 10% . Pancakes ~ Toppings Bar ~ Sausage ~ AppleMillion Pennies- We are collecting pennies, any sauce ~Milk ~ Coffee loose change, even bills or checks. Check out our Freewill donation to display in the Narthex. Our goal is the equivalent Houston Group of a million pennies! Cinnamon Rolls–Enjoy some cinnamon rolls the weekend of February 10-11! They are a yummy treat made by our Houston youth! 2
