Life Group Sermon Study

Father’s Day: Emilio’s Story June 14-15, 2014

Break the Ice:

ENGAGE

(The purpose of these first questions is to help your group open up. Please don’t feel like you have to ask each question. Once you feel like the group is ready, move onto the “Inspire” section.)

• How did you celebrate Father’s Day this past weekend? • Share a funny story that you experienced or witnessed from the past few weeks. Prayer: Take some time to pray for God to speak to your group through this week’s study. Questions:

IN SP IRE

(Since the group may need time to process each question, don’t let silence scare you. Try to avoid filling the space with unnecessary explanation or moving on from the question too quickly.)

• What from Emilio’s story impacted you the most? Why? • What is the most difficult challenge you have faced in your life? How did your faith in Jesus change that experience? • Is there anything that convicted you from Emilio’s testimony? • Have you ever been on a mission trip overseas? Describe your experience. • Do you have a passion or desire to go on a mission trip overseas? Share. Application:

EQUIP

(These questions will challenge your group members to apply the study to their daily lives. It is highly important that you go over this section with your group each week for the group study to be a success. Set aside 15-20 minutes at the end of your study to go over this section.)

• What has God been teaching you over the past week? • What are you going to do about it? Prayer: Take some time to pray over each group member’s identified action steps and life issues. Equip Your Mind: “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 2:1-5, ESV)
