Are you… …paying for an entry for someone else? Follow steps 1-4 then skip to page 9. …submitting your own New Blood entry? Read on.

The Basics 1. Visit the D&AD site: www.dandad.org 2. Sign in to your D&AD account (if you don’t have one, click Join now to create one) 3. Once signed in, go to the top right hand corner and click Hello (your name) 4. You will see the dropdown below, click on New Blood Awards 2016 to access the entry site.

Creating a New Entry 5) To begin creating a entry click Create a New Entry

6) When on the New Entry page, fill out the necessary details (entry title, select brief, when you started working on the brief and entry description.) Not sure what to put? Your title should be the name of your concept, not simply the name of the brief (eg BBC Whispers not BBC entry) Your entry description is a short summary of your idea (max. 100 words). Don’t include the brief in this description.

Getting Your Work Back If you want your physical work back, email us at [email protected] by 23 March 2016 with the subject line “Returns Request.”

7) If you’re submitting physical material tick the box to let us know, otherwise leave it empty. You can only submit physical material for certain briefs – see the brief itself to check.

Entry & Postage Labels If you’re sending physical work, you’ll need to download labels from the entry site. Click on Preparing your Entries in the sidebar to find the label download.

8) If you want your entry to be considered for a White Pencil, please tick the box and provide an explanation as to why.

What is the White Pencil? It’s awarded to work that uses commercial creativity to do good. If your entry for any of the briefs does this, you can put it forward to be considered for a New Blood White Pencil on top of being judged within its own brief. There’s no extra charge, all you’ll need to do is give us a short explanation of why you think your work is eligible.

9) Once you have filled out the details of your entry, click Save and Continue at the bottom right.

You and Your Team 10) Tell us whether you (and your team) are students, grads or under 24s.

Now’s the time to tell us who else helped with your entry. If you worked with a team, or were supported by a tutor, carry on to add them to your entry. If you’re entering on your own, just click Save and Continue and skip to step 14. Entry credits

Crediting tutors

The team members and tutors you add here are the people we’ll credit if your entry wins.

If you’re still at university, please credit any and all tutors who have set up these briefs to work on or otherwise helped you on your way, with support, guidance and advice.

3

11) Add teammates them to your entry by entering their email address into the first box and clicking Add. Don’t forget to double-check the spelling!

You can add up to four people to your team. If they’re not already signed up to dandad.org, we’ll email them and ask them to register. 12) Then add your tutor or tutors by entering their email address into the second box. Please make sure that you enter their email addresses. Again, do double check the spelling.

Everyone you’ve added will be listed at the bottom. If you make a mistake and need to delete someone you can do so by clicking the bin symbol by their name:

13) When you’re done, remember to click Save and Continue to make sure your teammates and tutors are credited against your entry.

Deliverables (Uploading Your Work) Before uploading your deliverables double check your brief and the Preparing Your Entries Guide (you’ll find the guide in your brief pack or in the sidebar at the left of the entry screen), to make sure your work is all formatted correctly. 14) Choose the relevant asset type and give it a title.

What’s an asset?

15) Click the upload button and choose the file to upload. You can only upload one file at a time.

Assets are the deliverables that make up your work, e.g. (your video, images, presentation slides, audio etc…)

16) Always click Save after you upload each asset. If you move on to another asset without saving the first one, you’ll overwrite it.

The title of your asset doesn’t need to be fancy, just tell us what it is. Eg ‘Main Deliverable 2’ or ‘Video 3’.

Uploading different asset types: Image: You’ll see a tick symbol (like the one in the picture above) if the image has uploaded successfully. Video, Audio and PDF: If you see the filename with a button underneath saying Change video / Change file (like the picture on the right) then your file has uploaded successfully. URL: If your asset is a URL then there’s nothing to upload. Just put in the URL and hit Save (again, doublecheck the spelling before you save).

5

17) Once you have uploaded and saved one asset you can do the same with the next: Click Add New Asset, then repeat steps 15 – 17 until you have uploaded and saved all of your work. Assets you’ve successfully submitted will line up in a list at the bottom of the tab. Once they’re there, you can reorder them, rename them or delete them. You can’t make any changes to the file / URL itself. If you need to change an asset itself, you’ll need to delete it and create a new one to replace it.

TIP: To delete an asset you’ve uploaded, click on the asset in this list and click Delete this asset. Click and drag using the button with lines on to the right of the asset to change the asset order.

Where’s my image? Don’t worry if you see these arrows, or if you can’t see a thumbnail. If your asset is in the list here then it’s been uploaded successfully. And our team check all entries before they go to judging, so if we do see any issues we’ll be in touch.

At this stage, check that you’ve uploaded all your assets. Once you’re perfectly happy with your entry continue to step 18.

18) All finished? Click Complete.

After you click Complete, you can still make changes to your entry – right up until you pay. Your complete entry will now appear in your dashboard under Awaiting payment. If you have any more entries to submit, go back to Step 5 and do the same again. Once you’re done creating entries, you can pay for them all in one go.

Paying for Your Entry After the long trek you’ve arrived at the final step: paying for your entry. Once you do this, you won’t be able to go back and make changes to your entry. 19) Under Awaiting Payment use the tick box to select the entry/entries you wish to pay for. • If you are paying click I will pay. • If your tutor, teammate or someone else will pay, click Someone else will pay.

7

Someone else will pay… Make sure the person you nominate is expecting to pay for your entry. If someone else is paying you will be taken to the screen below: • If the person paying is a teammate or tutor, select them then click Assign Payment. • If someone else is paying, click Other. Enter their email address (double check it’s correct) and then click Assign Payment.

We’ll send them an email asking them to pay for the entry. Once you’ve done this, the entry will show up under Submitted – and you’re done! We’ll be in touch if we spot any issues. Otherwise, good luck for judging!

If you’ve been asked to pay for an entry: • • •

Follow steps 1-4 at the beginning of this guide Go to the Awaiting payment tab Follow the steps on the next page under Ready to Pay

If you’ve been asked to pay by mistake, click on Someone Else Will Pay and follow the steps above to send the entry back to the right person.

8

Ready to Pay If you’re paying for an entry you’ll be taken to the payment screen. Select the correct card type and check the billing address is correct, then click Proceed to Payment.

Billing address not quite right? • Click Use a new billing address • Enter the new address • Click Update Invoice (important step to ensure correct billing address) • Click Proceed to payment

You’ll then be taken to the WorldPay page. Enter your card details to pay for your entry. Once you’ve paid, your entry will appear in your Dashboard under Submitted. You can click it to view your invoice. You can also view invoices by going to My D&AD and clicking My invoices.

And that’s it – you’re done! We check all entries before judging, so we’ll be in touch if we see any issues. There’s no confirmation email – you can tell your entry has been submitted because it will be in your Submitted tab in the dashboard with the status Complete/Paid.
