Invitation to Christ’s Table

Prayer of Confession In the beginning, God creates life out of chaos. Creation is good. Nature and human nature reintroduce chaotic elements into creation. Still God can redeem all chaos and usher in a new lifeis sustaining creation. Therefore, let us confess our chaos before the Almighty God. Holy One, our families are a mess. Even Sarah, pregnant with twins felt the feuding of her sons within, before they were born. Like Jacob and Esau, we carve out separate spaces to succeed –on the field, at home- and turn one another into rivals rather than brothers and sisters. Like Isaac and Rebekah, parents play a role in our chaos. As with these brothers, provide a path for our redemption. Welcome all prodigals home: the older and the younger, law-abiders and law-breakers.

Celebration of Communion by Intinction

Assurance of Forgiveness Romans 8:1 assures us, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” The of God dwells in you. In you hear nothing else Spirit today, hear these words: there is no condemnation. In the strong, reconciling name of Jesus, we are forgiven and set on a new path. Abound in the life of Christ. Amen Song

Eternal Spirit, Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver, Source of all that is and that shall be, Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven: The hallowing of your name echo through the universe The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world! Your heavenly will be done by all created beings! Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth. With the bread we need for today, feed us. In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us. In times of temptation and test, strengthen us. From trials too great to endure, spare us. From the grip of all that is evil, free us. For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and forever. Amen.
