F R O M T H E PA S TO R ’ S D E S K Dear Church Family, Fall seems to have arrived with a vengeance and with it, back to school, early snows, cooler days, frost on the pumpkin overnight, reminders of hunting season, and even more importantly, ministries relaunching across the board at church. Let me begin by saying a huge “thank you” to so many who have responded to the needs for help with our generational ministries across the board. From AWANA to Ignite to Fusion, our church family has stepped up to reinforce our belief that investing our lives in the next generation to secure a solid biblical foundation to their faith for their future is truly a priority. As you are aware, over the last 18 months, this same priority has led us to investigate, prayerfully prepare, and launch into a strategy for a one-year Bible college. The culture of our nation seems deeply committed to undermining everything about our Christian heritage. We’ve taken prayer out of the classrooms, the Ten Commandments off of the walls, and are regularly hearing stories about hostility towards any expression of the Christian faith among students at all levels. At the same time, our nation seems incapable of making any connection between these decisions and the soaring numbers of incidents of violence, teen pregnancy, declining academic performance, and overall moral decline. Here at Easthaven, we have been led by the Lord to do something. To date, we are implementing steps toward opening the doors for our first class in the fall of 2018. The first phase of campus development is well underway and will provide classroom space, dining hall, a kitchen, housing for our visiting professor, and potentially overflow dorm space for our first several years of operation. This magnificent first phase towers three stories above the landscape of our 28-acre parcel with stunning views into Glacier National Park. It feels like you could extend your hand right into the Park from this glorious, picturesque place in creation. If you’ve not been to the property and seen the view, you are missing out! The Lord has currently provided over $50,000 toward our goal of over $200,000. This is an exciting time for us to again pray, watch, and be prepared to celebrate what He has in store for this enormous step of faith. My challenge for us is two-fold. First, there are some of us that could make a significant personal investment that will make a difference in the survival of the faith of the next generation. Please pray about contributing to this legacy-establishing cause. Secondly, I never cease to be amazed at the personal connections that exist within our church family. So, I ask you this, “Who do you know that could join us in generously supporting this endeavor?” There are many of us that know people outside of our church family who could, if the Lord led them to, make a generous contribution. Would you be willing to pass some information along to them and ask them to prayerfully consider investing in this ministry? This is a great way to establish a legacy that will far outlast our lives. I absolutely believe that we will look back in the next 12 months and marvel at all the Lord has accomplished toward this goal. I also believe that for generations to come, should the Lord tarry, young lives will be given a firm foundation for their faith that will allow them to faithfully live for Jesus and help shape the future of our nation. Invest in your legacy with me! Honored to serve Him with you! Pastor Daniel <>< easthaven.org | easthaven.church

50+ PRIMETIME MINISTRY GOES TO CAMP First Annual Primetime Getaway Pastor Mike Marrs

“WOW!! That’s the only way to describe the First Annual Primetime Getaway to Thompson Lakes Christian Retreat this last Friday and Saturday, where 46 folks joined together for fellowship, worship, and fantastic food. We found time to meet and greet one another and enjoy a steak dinner and potato bar on the first night. After dinner, Pastor Chris Baker and his wife, Kim, led the Primetime campers in an incredible evening worship and devotional service, followed by an ice cream social, and more time to fellowship and meet new friends. Saturday morning started with a hearty breakfast and a second worship and devotional service led by Pastor Chris and Kim. Then, it was off to fun and games as most campers settled in for some Southern Baptist Big Time Bingo action led by our Bible College benefactor’s Steve and Kathy Schleyer. Others chose more leisurely activities like walking in the woods, playing cards, or simply finding a comfortable place to relax and renew their spirit with the Lord. Participant’s boarded vans after lunch and returned home blessed with new friends, fond memories, and renewed spirits. A hearty thank you to all our volunteers who made this event possible and to our special friends, Ben and Megan Webb, who drove the shuttle vans and helped prepare and clean up after the meals. I would like to personally thank our friends at Chick-fil-A and others who donated gifts and door prizes in support of the Primetime Ministry and this first annual event, way to go team!”

50+ PRIMETIME EVENTS TO COME IN 2017 On Novembers 3, we will have another 50+ luncheon. This week we will have a Thanksgiving Dinner followed by our guest speaker, Randy Vasquez, who will be sharing his experiences as a Boarder Patrol Agent, working with his special canine partner.

At noon on December 1, we will host the First Annual Primetime Banquet. This event will cap off 2017 with a super Rib Roast dinner followed by special time of entertainment, awards, and fellowship. You will not want to miss this year-end event. Join us each week for the 50+ Primetime Bible Study led by Pastor Frank Shelt, and accompanied by Pastors Mike, Daniel, and Matt. Nothing beats an opportunity like joining together for coffee, donuts, and listening to the great teaching of God’s Word from Pastors who care about your spiritual growth and fellowship with our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

MEN’S MINISTRY What is the purpose of my life? How do I become a Godly Man? Do I have what it takes?

These questions can be answered on your journey to follow Jesus. This is a personal journey, but also a relational journey. Many of us How do I know I’m on the tend not to ask for help, but at the same time, we really enjoy helping right track? others. Our example, Jesus, was all about serving others. He invested His time into the lives of other men through relational teaching and service! Mark 10:45 says, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” We need to learn how to be Godly, biblical men. Studying together and serving with other men, a Band of Brothers if you will, helps us to have vision for our lives, while building friendships. The best way to learn God’s Word and to discover His truth is to do so with a few faithful companions. We face many spiritual battles and need advice from a trusted brother in the fight, or perhaps a mentor who has faced the battle before. A Foxhole Friend is the guy who has your back and will build a plan with you for a successful battle strategy. Because there is strength in numbers, I encourage you to find one or two Foxhole Friends to protect yourself from the fiery attacks. I appreciate the guys in my life that have given me advice, wisdom, and encouragement on my journey. Without their input, it would be easy to get stuck in a rut. These men have helped me to get unstuck and to realize that I have what it takes to be successful in whatever God calls me to do. I pray that you are able to find a Band of Brothers and a Foxhole Friend to encourage you on your journey to follow Jesus. Justin McKerrow Men’s Ministry Leader

WORSHIP MINISTRY

PASTOR ANDY MCPEAK WORSHIP PASTOR

It is such an honor to lead our church family in worship on a weekly basis! I am thankful to be able to learn, grow, and live in our church community, and I have been learning a lot about worship the last couple of years. I'd like to take a moment to share about

why we worship.

Why do we worship through music? It's important to have an answer to that question, or a big chunk of our time together during each weekend service might seem like a waste of time. So, why do we sing? The main purpose of worship through music is found in Psalm 34:3, which says 'Proclaim the Lord's greatness with me; let us exalt His name together." We worship to proclaim. The greatness of God is worthy of a response. We shout, sing, pray, whisper, cry, laugh, and speak of His greatness. The word proclaim carries with it a sense of bold, confident response. Singing provides an excellent avenue for this proclamation. We worship through music to proclaim. We worship together. Together is the key word in this phrase. When we gather, we encourage and support one another in Him and because of Him. When we sing together, we are hearing a multitude of voices focused and responding to the one true God. There is strength and encouragement together. We worship through music together. So, why do we worship through music? Why do we sing? To proclaim together.

PROPOSED GLACIER BIBLE COLLEGE DORM

You may be confused by our new website. Why do we need TWO websites? What's the difference between the two? We still have the website EASTHAVEN.ORG. This website is primarily for new guests or individuals who search for a church in our area. We have cleaned up this website, removed parts of it, and simplified it so new guests can easily learn about Easthaven. EASTHAVEN.CHURCH is for you. We have uploaded information on this website about events, ministry needs, and sign ups/permission slips. The following resources are on this website: • Weekly bulletin • AWANA theme/WNS menu each week • Ministry sign ups and permission slips for youth events • And so much more. Check it out for yourself. Spend some time going through the different cards on easthaven.church. Information is updated and added throughout the week and will become a great resource for you.

You probably see it in the news almost every day. The Church in America is losing its youth. Young people are trading in their Bibles for a culture without Christ. The foundation of their faith has been broken. More than two thirds leave the church at college age. Glacier Bible College will prepare students to see the world around them through the truth of God’s Word. Each student will gain an intense year of training and discipleship, restoring their confidence and faith in the Word of God. In May, we, as a church family, voted to raise $200,000 and establish Glacier Bible College. Your giving towards this ministry will make it possible for young people to gain a firm foundation in Biblical Truth, so that they can enter the world following Christ with every step.
